Hey Thanks Kate, I definitely thought this one had a Real Gone kinda vibe. I think I did this the year that came out, now that I think about it.
Green Grass is one of my favs! the guitar in that song is beautiful

Yes it some of the best songs up that album
and i love it in the middle when he just whistles for like a min
i cant whistle (dont know why) so when he does it i love it so much and in Young At Heart he does it again i am like yay
But yes his strange his different his what i want to listen to
but i have looked though a lot of different pieces of art of Tom but i like this one the best
it even has the train tracks in the background. He he ALWAYS talks about trains so that just makes it so much more him and so much more perfect
Well Done i mean really you are a gun man
thanks for being awsome he he (if thats not to forward to say)

It's a fun story! A great way to sum up Waits.
I wish I could see Waits live every year..Without a doubt the best live act I've been to.
Thanks!

This is amazing. This is the first artwork featuring Tom I've seen that actually captures him- everything else I've seen has been a reproduction of a photo. Props on venturing into his strange world.

He actually tells this story in the movie "Wristcutters" if you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it. It's an awesome movie, well written, well done, and he's a great supporting actor in it.

Hey there! Thanks for the nice words, man, I'm thrilled you like the art. I reaaallllly want to make more pieces based on Tom's music and stage presence. I'm SO thrilled that I'll get to hear him live next month.
Awesome website! I'll be checking up on that very often. There aren't many options for Waits websites, so I appreciate your hard work.
Feel free to link to the piece. I hope people like it!
take care

Tom Waits, yay!
Thanks for that story, that's one I had never heard, and I can actually imagine it being told with his voice (do I listen to Waits too much?
Anyway, you can never go wrong with a crooked tree and railroad tracks...

I wish you could hear the clip of him telling the story. Almost everything is lost in summarizing it. Waits is a great artist! glad you like this work in his honor!

This is probably the best Tom Waits artwork on DeviantArt and there is little more to say.
I discovered him about three years ago, "The Piano Has Been Drinking" was the song that made me wonder who the guy was. It was played at the end of the movie " Georgia ". I soon figured out how imaginative his music became through the years and although I love both " past and present " Toms, I must say the later is my favorite. Whistlin' Past The Graveyard has to be my favorite song since I believe Blue Valentine was the door Waits stepped through in Swordfishtrombones, Rain Dogs, etc... although my favorite song is in Blue Valentine, Rain Dogs is my favorite album.
Through my discoveries I found out he actually made such songs like Tom Traubert's Blues, Downtown Train and Jersey Girl. I admire the modesty of the man, I mean, those guys who remade his songs had to know most would believe they made them, in my opinion. I don't believe I'm wise enough 'cause if I would have been Tom I would be bringing it up at each and every interview, " Yep, that's my song, not Rod's ", but heh, he's Tom Waits.
Tom has been very important in my life. I listen to his music practically every day without growing tired of it ( although friends and relatives sometimes do! ). I don't believe I'll ever grow tired of him. He taught me many things. He introduced me to many artists such as Captain Beefheart and Screamin' Jay Hawkins. And, and, and, well, that's about it. Thanks for creating this amazing artwork.

oh your very welcome. I have so many other Waits pieces I'd love to make. Someday in the future, I'm sure!
Thanks for sharing how much you like Waits. I'm as big a fan. I listen to him nearly every day. His songs are so varied both in style and content, and there's always something fun to explore in them. And they just sound awesome!
I prefer the later Waits work too. I agree there isn't a bad album in his career though! The early stuff was great too.
Thanks! I'll made a Waits christmas card in this same style last year to send out to friends. I'll post the art on here soon.

I love this. I hope you mean the same Tom Waits that I'm thinking of, the one who also sung "Sea Of Love!" I love his voice.
If its not him, still a cool piece of art.

STEP right up, everyone's a winner, bargains galore.....
Tom is the MAN. And I think it's so cool that younger people are discovering his talent ( in an era of so little talent in the music industry).
This is a great piece of ART as is everything in your gallery!!! I have the greatest respect for sculpters as there is no way to digitally cheat with photoshop! A timeless , TRUE talent that so few people are good at!
I found your page through my love for graphite drawings!!! Great work brother!

And I'm definitely not falling for the 'music' of today... you have to dig to find the gold!
Thanks again and I'm happy you like my older works! Sculpting is definitely a challenge, but one that has been very rewarding! You have amazing portraits in your gallery!!
take care

Awsome awsome job, so incredibly Tom Waits lol
Great concept.
If you don't allready have it, there is a live CD that you would probably like of his (though it is quite rare from what i can tell). It has him telling a story before every song, and it is quite simply amazing. VH1 Storytellers it's called, though I'm finding it hard to find on the internet. But yea, I would HIGHLY recommend it, especially if you like his live stuff.
