Description "I told you Nat, I'm not going on another one of those stupid blind dates you set up. Remember last time? It was ironic, almost going blind on a blind date; thanks to your little assassin friend trying to show off his new "perfected" knife-throwing skills," I said to one of my closest friends, the famed avenger Natasha Romanoff. She was a great friend, but she was always trying to set me up with people, namely people from SHIELD. At this point, there have been too many assassins and near-death-experiences to count.
"Okay, okay. So trying to set you up with Aaron wasn't my best or brightest idea, but hear me out this time. Alright Y/n?" Responded the red-headed assassin.
"Fine, but this is the last time I let you try and set up a blind date for me." I told her.
"Y/n, you say that every time."
"Well, I really mean it this time."
"Whatever," she muttered. I opened my mouth to rebut, but she took notice of me doing so and continued without giving me the chance to. "I've already gotten this guy to agree to this. And this time, I chose a guy that has specifically asked about you before." She said, the last part leaving me in confusion.
"What do you mean he's asked about me before?" I asked her.
"I mean that this super attractive guy knows that the two of us are friends, so he asked me about you. More specifically, he asked if you were single." She explained to me.
"Yea right," I muttered, "who would ask about me? Better yet, who would even ask someone if their friend was single?"
"A cocky, confident bastard that I sadly know very well." Responded Nat.
"Sounds like a great guy Nat," I said sarcastically. "A cocky bastard that you regret knowing. Why the hell would you set me up with this guy?"
"He's not really that bad Y/n, you know how I treat all my guy friends, and anyone you've ever dated. I would consider this guy to in some way be my friend, and you two might be able to date in the future, so he's got it doubly hard." She responded. "I really think that this guy might work out."
"Yea yea, whatever. He'll likely end up just being another name to add to the never-ending list of men I repel." I said, trying not to convey too much information. I don't usually like to show it, but I feel like I'm just not good enough. All these guys coming and going, am I just that hard to love?
"Y/n, I know you. You want this to be something. I think it could be, but you're going to have to try okay? Please try to have fun tonight, okay? Just, consider this guy." Said Natasha.
"Fine, I'll try. For you." I told her.  "Wait, did you say tonight?" I exclaimed, panic starting to course through my veins as I processed what she said.
"Did I forget to mention that?" She asked. I nodded. "Oh, well the date's tonight."
""Natasha! It's already 5:30, what time is he getting here?"
"I think he was planning on somewhere between 6:45 and 7:00."
"Great, you think." I said, panicking. "That gives me a little over an hour to get ready."
"Y/n, calm down. You'll be fine." Nat reassured me.
"Yea, yea. Okay, you're right, nothing good will come from panicking. What do you think I should wear?"
"Something more casual than dressy, with what he has planned in mind." She said.
"Well what's he planning?" I asked, trying to pry some more information out of her.
"I can't just tell you, haven't you ever heard of a surprise?" She said sarcastically. "I'm going to head on out so you can get ready. This way I'll be gone when he gets here too. Good Luck tonight." She leaned forward to pull me into a quick hug then was out the door in the blink of an eye.
"Now all I have to do is pick out an outfit, put on my makeup, do my hair, and clean at least my living room a little bit." I said aloud to myself. "Great."

~*~ Timeskip brought to you by Phil Coulson~*~

In the end, I decided to go with a Ghostbusters t-shirt along with dark-wash jeans. I fixed my high ponytail in the mirror and checked my makeup once more before slipping on my black converse and checking the time. 6:51. He'll be here any minute. I decided to sit and wait on the couch, thinking that sitting down would help to calm my heart furiously beating inside of my chest.
I wasn't forced to wait very long before I heard a knock on my door. I glanced down at the watch on my wrist as I stood up. 6:53. I took in a deep breath, exhaling it and inhaling another as I walked to the door. I let out a sigh as I opened the door, eager to find out who was on the other side. I opened the door to see no other than...
       "Tony Stark?" I asked aloud.
"Yea, that's my name. You must be the beautiful Y/n." He said from the hallway outside my apartment door. I stood in awe for a moment, taking him in. I'd met him once or twice while I was hanging out with Nat and always thought he was attractive, but now seeing him in a tight black AC/DC t-shirt and jeans I saw how attractive he really was. Now I get why Nat said the guy was so cocky and confident. He's Tony f***ing Stark.
"So, you ready to go?" He asked.
"Sure, lead the way." I responded. We walked down the hallway to the elevator, and rode down in a peaceful silence. "So where are we going?" I asked him as we reached the ground floor.
"That's a surprise, you aren't afraid of heights are you?" He answered, proposing another question to me.
       "No." I answered.
"Good." He held open the passenger side door for me, and I slid into the blue mustang and Tony shut the door behind me. He sat in front of the wheel, pulled out, and we were off.
"So, Natasha and you are pretty close?" He asked, making conversation as we drove.
"Yea, she's one of my closest friends." I replied honestly.
"Nice." He said, then went silent for a moment. "Does she ever talk about me?" He asked.
"Not really. But you know Natasha, she never talks about anyone from work. Unless she's trying to set me up of course." I told him. Then, getting some of my courage back now that I knew who I was with, continued. "She did tell me however, that you asked about me." Tony paused for a moment before answering me.
"Yes, I did. You are a very beautiful woman, and Natasha has brought up before the fact that you happen to really like Metallica." He said.
"Well, that's true. The Metallica bit." I responded.
"And I'm glad I did, because I showed up to pick you up and there you were in a Ghostbusters shirt." He said.
"Funny, coming for the guy that came to pick me up in an AC/DC shirt." I responded with a smile. I looked up as I spoke, and saw Stark Tower looming just ahead of us. We slowed to a stop out front, and Tony and I exited the car. After heading inside, I followed him to the elevator.
"JARVIS, take us up to the roof." Said Tony.
"You're taking me to the top of Stark Tower?" I asked excitedly. Tony smiled at my somewhat childish behavior as we ascended.
The bell made the little ding sound and the doors opened, revealing a candlelit dinner set up before me.
"Tony, you did this for me?" I said, in awe.
"Of course. If any woman deserves a romantic first date with Tony Stark, it's you." He responded.
       "Oh shut up."
The rest of the night went swimmingly, us talking about every topic under the sun while enjoying grilled cheese (he claims that grilled cheese is his specialty). I won't bore you with the details. Then it came time for me to go home, and for once I felt a bit sad that I had to leave a date that Nat had set me up for.
Tony drove me home, the two of of joking the whole way back. He even walked me back up to my apartment.
"You know Y/n, I had a really great time tonight." He said, looking down into my (e/c) eyes.
"Me too Tony. I'm not just saying that either, Natasha sets me up on a lot of dates, but this one was really awesome." I said, gazing back into his own brown orbs. We both leaned in, my lips meeting his. His lips were rough, but his kiss was soft. EVentually we both had to pull away for air.
"We'll have to do this again sometime." He said, with that cocky smile of his.
"Of course." I responded. "Here's my number, so you don't have to ask Natasha." I said, reaching for his phone that he had already pulled out of his pocket. "Text me sometime." I told him.
"I will." He replied. "Goodnight Y/n."
"Goodnight Tony." I responded. Once inside I closed the door to my apartment and let out a sigh. And I thought the date was going to be awful. Thankfully, I listened to Nat this time.
