front view sketch > [link]need a name for this angel... any suggestions?
preferably a name that has something to do with their actions in silent hill asylum.
try to give angelic names like Gabriel. the "el" at the end of the name means it is an angelic name.
Story:
this angel is found in some of the deepest networks of silent
hill's Hell. it is understood that it is trying to rescue you from
damnation and guide you to salvation. when it reaches out its
hand to assist you will you accept salvation as your end or deny
salvation and continue searching for the answers in the dark
corners of hell for true closure. mind you that the angel may not
willingly accept your choice.
Description:
this angel can be found with wrists bound above in the fiery
ring of its halo. the halo burns red with a fiery rage that showers
the angel in ashes. as the angel moves around ashes begin to
consume the earth around it. when angered the angel may
violently flap its wings thus fanning the flaming halo and causing
the flames to violently crackle and send ashes flying
everywhere. the angel uses this moment to hide in the ash and
strike using quick powerful attacks. when ashes have completely
flooded the air in the Chamber everything farther than
approximately 4 feet becomes obscured in dark grey ash. it is
only when the angel approaches you within 8 feet that the fiery
halo begins to fade into vision. if the angel manages to
overpower you in the ashy haze then the angel will knock you to
the ground and drag you away into the darkness.

How about Bransg Olpirt. "Olpirt" and "Bransg" mean "light" and "guard" in Enochian. Judging by it's purpose it would make sense as well as naming angels in their own language because it sounds very weird and alien, like angels themselves are.

I like Grigori idea. From my understanding of it, the Grigori were actually guardian angels who decided they couldn't sit at the sidelines while humans stumbled in ignorance. They disobeyed god by presenting themselves to humanity, and started teaching them the deep secrets of the universe. The angels had hoped that they could save mankind from itself. With time, however, the angels lost their perspective and began to emulate the corrupt ways of mortals, particularly falling prey to lust. For their foolishness, God had the angels banished into the bowels of the earth to await their final judgement, cursed to powerlessly witness the consequences of their actions as their disciples became jealous and slaughtered each other. For this, they were named "the Watchers."
Kind of a living embodiment of "the road to hell is paved with good intentions." It seemed reminiscent of your idea of the angel trying to rescue you from facing your true nature; it thinks that it's saving you by helping you back to the status quo of "normalcy," but it's really just enabling you to repeat your mistakes again and again without suffering the consequences.

Actually, since this whole thing is in a mental hospital...
I know you already have a backstory for this, but bare with me.
You could make this thing into a Boss and call it "The Truth" or "Relapse." It would appear like you said through the game, and act as a G-Man style figure (sometimes helping, sometimes hindering your progress. For example, he could unlock a door for you at one point, and later lock another one behind you.) Until late in the game, you are never able to interact with it directly. However, when you meet face to...neck...it reveals the truth: escape is futile; insanity is inescapable and the protagonist is doomed no matter what path they take. "God favors the weak; die by my hand and you will be saved."
It could represent apparent cases where people have claimed to have been recovering or have recovered from insanity, only to have it come back much worse a second time (they stop taking their meds, for example.) The fact that it has no head seems to take the phrase "lost my mind" quite literally, and the halo+wings could represent "redemption" but the fact they are red shows this redemption to be false.

Maalik (Islam): The Guardian of the Seven Hells where people doing misdeeds are sent to.
And a idea for the ashes would be to use some of the ashes in the whole 'barefoot' gameplay element, having them burn 16's feet.

Felt like delving into so and found - Sariel an angel of guidance or protection- and little story they had of him that kind of seems similar to your's characterisitcs."He is also a benevolent angel of death (one of a few). Suriel was sent to retrieve the soul of Moses.". Glad i could find soemthing to suggest , loves your work by the way.
