This is a Spike picture I made for every little thing he done so far in all episode in season 7. This season really show him as the true assistant. To assist not only for Twilight. But for Trixie and Starlight as well. All episode really show how much mature he is and how less being kid everyone believe he is.
And somehow...It seem like he being only sense person in episode. =w="

I hate the fictions where Raribitch(not the most original, but funny) breaks the poor drake's heart. But i enjoy when Spikes snaps and makes all the mane 6 see all those moments he suffered, like the prank they pulled on him during the winter wrap up, or being left behind when they went to cloudsdale or worse....when he wasn't invited to Twilight's party, i mean COME ON!!!. If you still remember, Twilight set Owlowiscious free when her tree was destroyed (rip old home) by Tirek.
I think Twilight was just temporarily keeping the owl as her second assistant to help her with things at night (after all, she used to burn midnight candles a lot and that was the reason Owlowiscious made his appearance). At times, we see her consider the owl as her pet.
Twilight thought she should let go of Owl since he had served his purpose at her home destroyed by Tirek, and it was also to keep him away from danger.
IDK, that's just my thought.

I just thought that scene was him flying somewhere safe until Video was dealt with, but that explanation explains the sad look she gave when he flew off... Damn, I thought they did pretty well together.

I never saw Spike being paid actually, Twilight takes care of him, with food, and bed, Spike honours his dragon code and stays determined to help her...
