I looked up from this picture and saw my brother's dog looking all sad and dejected standing at the top of the stairs where my brother had just gone outside.
My brother does not give that dog enough attention, and none of us can chastise him or care for the dog in his stead because he gets all pissy. It's awful.

I know it's really none of my business, but you really should take that dog away from him. Neglect for a pet is a terrible thing... Our pet's love us with all their hearts, and deserve nothing less in return.

It is none of your business. For all that the dog deserves better, both of them would be miserable if they were separated. He's quite possibly all that's keeping my brother from withdrawing completely.

The light and heavenly colors you used are beautiful. The dog's very good and I feel like the white background holds a large amount of symbolism in this piece. As does the tiny heart.
This can be interpreted in many ways but I must say that this reminds me of a book named 'A dog with no purpose'. This piece is beautiful and the fact that you require your audience to think about this just makes it so much more amazing.

Very simple, and still very beautiful. The soft colors are lovely, and I adore the feeling of mixed loneliness and love I get from it.
I get the feeling that she's a dog who loves her owner unconditionally, even if she's neglected or mistreated. She grew up loving her owner, and he's all she knows. So even when she's abandoned and left alone, she waits patiently for him to come back and play with her, never giving up the hope that he still might come around and show her the love that she desires.
Humans could learn a thing or two about love from animals.

A few years back, our neighbors noticed that there was a stray in the park in their back yard. It was a Chinese Crested who's "manhood" hadn't been removed, so we assumed that he was an abandoned dog for a mill. They've found two more dogs in the same area in the same situation. Anyhow, my dad made an attempt to lure the Chinese Crested into a cage by using a slice of pizza as bait. To my dad's surprise, he only needed to put down the cage and the dog walked right in. We started to care for him, and every test that the dog needed to receive, like rabies, mange, etc., proved negative. So he was a healthy baby. We don't know very much about the dog or what it's previous owners were like, but it still makes me mad that someone could just leave their animal to fend for itself. Especially a small dog like the Chinese Crested that won't survive for a long time with foxes and coyotes. If you have to leave your pets for financial reasons, then a person should take it to a shelter, or find a family that can take care of the animal; not leave it in the wild.

maybe it is not the dog thats alone but the dog is the reason.
The dog is what you live for, because without eachother both the owner and the dog would be miserable.

The first thing came to mind was his owner died in some preventable accident (like drunk driving, dangerous drug use) or suicide. "That's why" you should think your actions through.
Dogs were domesticated and selectively bred to be companion animals and partners for humans (some breeds more than others of course). They NEED human attention and affection, they've been "made" that way. Tying up your dog outside alone its whole life or leaving them alone for days is probably one of the most cruel things you can do other than out rite physically abusing them .
