Description
The story utilizing this language can be found on my FiMFiction.net account: [link] and in my DeviantART Gallery.Whew. Finally got this finished. I keep thinking I'm forgetting something.
Finally ya'll can figure out what Tsyreim is saying. lol
Anyway it's about time I finished up the Prequestrian translation.
As a note, I made this for my story, but to be honest, it turned into a project where I aimed at making it something for all my fellow bronies out there to use as well.
I put a lot of work into it, so why not let others use it as well?
It's better than resorting back to the ever-so-typical, 'Latin-is-a-magical-language' route.
I wanted something original for the MLP universe and my character, and so I made it.
As an added note, every Prequestrian Rune can be made with different strokes of a hoof or horseshoe.
The Prequestrian Dialect is © of me, =Vypor .
My Little Pony is © of Hasbro.
Friendship is Magic is © of Lauren Faust, *fyre-flye

Hmm, I've been thinking about using this in a story, and I was wondering, when concerning the different 'levels' of spells, would you care to give an example? Would one-word spells be in the lower ranks, and multiple-line spells be in the higher ranks?

Say for example that a single line spell would be along the lines of "Fire", or in Prequestrian, "Tule".
Now to make the fire do what you want, say make the fire come in the shape of a pony, "Fire Flows in Shape of Pony" (I'm just grasping at straws here) it would be "Tule Tsacf ub Fvine at Naby".
Obviously, that would require more concentration, but do the amount of words have any play in the power of it?

this is not a language this is a cypher of english the only vaguely interesting part is the alphabet and even that is just a cypher of the english alphabet
do you even speak anything other than english

No I don't speak anything other than English. So why would I base it around a language that I don't know or understand?
Also, yes I am aware it is mostly a cipher.
At least I'm being more original than the people who just utilize Latin to make it sound all unique and magical.
I also realize you are a person who doesn't understand how to give a worthwhile critique.
(The username kinda gives that away, and the fact that your page is filled with hatred.)
Ironic that you're a fan of a show who's fanbase does so try to emphasize love and tolerance, when you are such a hateful and intolerant person.
Either that, or you're just a troll.
Which to be honest, I'm simply going to go with the latter option.
Don't bother replying to this unless you intend to actually give something insightful, or at the very least worthwhile to read. As trolls attempting to cause petty internet altercations does bore me so.

first of all please dont call it a language if its a cipher because thats not what a cipher is
secondly since you want helpful advice i would recommend reading guides such as this one [link] or this one [link] precisely to avoid every mistake youve made here the point is not to make a CIPHER of an existing language but to actually make your very own language that is somewhat unique and specifically the entire point is to make something that is different from what you already speak otherwise whats the point which would render your question more or less moot youll understand better what i mean if you read the guides
but basically heres the rundown
1 learn a bit about phonology ie the sound system of a language and try to at least shake things up instead of using the exact same sounds from your native language
2 learn a bit about the history of orthography and why making a cipher for letters like c and x in a language that is supposedly in a different universe is absurd
3 4 5 etc learn a bit about morphology syntax semantics and if youre feeling fancy pragmatics these will all help tremendously when imagining a constructed language
what matters is not that you be satisfied with going the laziest possible route to being more quote unquote original than people who use latin but that you make something more compelling and impressive than what youd get by running your text through a rot 13 script and i mean this in the most helpful way possible this being that you realize that what youve made here is frankly not very interesting and that you could do better mostly as a challenge to yourself and only secondly as something to show to other people
if you dont actually care about making something that people who know more about creating fictional languages than making a cipher of an alphabet might earnestly appreciate then feel free to ignore this post itd just be a shame for you to ignore informed criticism just because you feel its rude
ps the love and tolerance thing is basically a tongue in cheek defense against trolls that 4chan people used over a year ago so i dont see why everyone who likes a show has to adopt a life philosophy out of it if you had phrased that as an appeal to politeness i suspect people would comply with your request more readily

First off, I'm going to have to say I had to reread what you've written several times just to understand some parts of it, due to your complete and utter lack of punctuation.
Which is rather ironic considering your dedication to attempting to show me how I know nothing about creating a language.
But I digress, I have to admit I'm surprised you actually had something reasonable to say regarding creating new languages. As your initial comment was nothing but a garbled mess of hate and pointing out what I was already aware of.
This is something I simply worked on and off till I felt it was at least usable in the story.
I have no experience in creating languages, nor have I really ever done this before. I am not a linguist. I mostly just created it to make it more unique than a normal pronunciation, yet still fairly translatable by the reader without having to actually need to learn an entirely new language.
I have a habit of trying to do everything myself, without help from other people if I can help it.
And yes it was rude, but you did provide some valuable resources after I pointed out the questionable content of the initial comment. So I thank you for that.
Also, I am aware of the Love and Tolerance ordeal.
However, it does not mean it's not something to be practiced if possible.
There are simply far better ways to comment then making yourself look like an overachieving troll outright.

Methinks I'm going to be using this quite a bit. And, just for the record, it was actually just coincidence that you and I began writing MLP fiction simultaneously this time. I wrote the Prince of Twilight storyline out while I was away from dA.

Yeah. It's not going to be as in depth as your rune chart though. Think more along the lines of Eragon. Where you just make up words and then give meaning to them in the back of the book. XD

c=neutral

Normally, I'd be in slight disapproval since this is just a cipher, and not a language, but I understand that you made it with English speakers in mind.
Nice looking characters, though.

I'm not exactly a linguist, and needed something original for the story. So this came about.
I know there isn't a lot to it other than simply re-lettering stuff, but it works.
Though I did throw a few different things in to make it a bit more original.

It is somewhat.
But mine is rather simple. It's mostly just a code. Switched up letters and such.
But I threw a few other things into the mix to make it more original than just a code.

GlassPaladin In reply to Vypor [2012-04-11 20:49:08 +0000 UTC]
Fun fact: The letter "e" is the most common letter in the English language. Therefore, you can actually decode a lot of "substitution ciphers" simply through frequency analysis. By looking at which characters appear the most often and matching them to their Latin counterparts, you can decode things without the key. This assumes a large enough sample size, though.

Umm, not sure if error or not, but looking at the example of "A", it say's it is pronounced "U", but in the Celestia Example, it is translated as an "I". Just looked at that, and I dare say, I like this language.
Does it have the same stipulations as normal English? Does it count out minor words? Is this translation correct?
"They who raise the sun and the moon eternal" == "Rvey cva liufe rve fob ibm rve jaab erelbis"

What mean you by 'count out minor words'?
And yes that translation is correct.
If it corresponds to the graph in the picture, then it is right.

In some 'home-made' languages, even though the original reference was indeed English, people took out, or altered some words that were fairly useless, even within the English language. Certain pronouns, for example, are disregarded.
