Description
Re-process and correction of an old image. To me, this image speaks to a life that is lost, and for the most part totally forgotten. A life in which there was a connectedness between man and creation. While modern technology has created great strides in growth and development, for which we are all indebted, there is also a loss that has been created. In a way, we have all lost a part of our roots, which help to create a sense of purpose, belonging and stability. In today’s world, there is a belief that we are all independent and separate, yet each of us continues to long for connection and to belong. And while me may believe that we are islands unto ourselves, like this old wagon, we are waiting for a discovery that will prove our value and worth.
THE FORGOTTEN by: kayarlynnean
Souls are wandering
Among this battlefield
Forgotten
What are their stories?
The tales they have told?
Are they forever lost,
Within a past not meant to be?
These souls are wandering
Searching for some way home
But they are trapped
They cannot get out
They are forever lost
Among this battlefield
Forgotten
What will come of their stories?
Of the tales they have told?
What will come of their families?
Of what they’ve left behind?
I’m standing here on this hilltop
I can feel their pain
And I am stuck with them
In a past not meant to be
Now I’m asking
What will come of their stories?
Of the tales they have told?
Of the lives they have lived?
I am being transported
Through time
To a past not meant to be
As I stand here on this hilltop
Alone
In a battlefield
Of loss
Now…
Everything
Is forgotten

I think the concept is OK, but my processing skills are lacking. The shot was taken from a distance with a 300mm lens.

No matter what I think you did a good job both on the concept and the photo itself

welol that is the thing with art that I like. My procesing skills are improving as I read and learn. In some cases Ihave gone back and re-worked an image, but the one can't do that for every one.

thanks for commenting.
I am not sure the sadness is so strange. I have seen it may times in the comments on some of my work. There appears to be a sense in many people of loss, loss of our roots to the past, out connectedness to our ancestry. These shots of old things tend to bring up those feelings is some people.
maybe it is a good thing. It creates an opportunity to slow down and evaluate what is of vaue in our lives.

This is so stark is it almost heartbreaking. I love it yet feel like if I look at it too long I might go into a funk. Everything about this shot is superb in its ability to draw emotion.

I love this image...I keep watching it and waiting for something to come over the hill lol. The little white triangle-shaped piece of land is slightly distracting though.

lol....the little triange thingy is snow. It was in the scene, and I decided not to remove it, but in some ways I do agree with you.

This is a wonderful shot. I remember one similar to this that my grandfather had and used when I was a child. It was in a little better shape than this one though.

Well, if your grand father used it, i would hope it was in better shape. This one has sat in this spot for many years. I saw it for the first time perhaps 7 years ago, and it has deteriotated a lot in that time. I would think that in another 15 or so years, there will not be a lot left. Still, in the mean time, it creates a certain beauty that I enjoy.

I'm sure the one my grandfather used is completely gone by now....that was almost 60 years ago now. I would say that you are probably right, 15 years and there won't be much left of this one but it does bring back memories.

Hi Sharka,
Thanks a lot for your comment. I did not know you grew up on a farm. I did not grow up on a farm but we lived in the country in a dairy farming area, and I live now among farms and farmers. So I guess some of it has just rubbed off.
Thanks a lot for your support.
