Description
Both of these objects unlock something. The key is obvious. The lens however unlocks light, and allows the creation of images, through the control of light intensity, perspective and depth of field.with special thanks to DHL Photography for his rendition of this image:

beautiful colors and very tasteful composition. You've pretty much nailed them all 3 - color, light and gesture!

i like the simbolism..and like the composition between something old and something new (the key looks rotten, and the lens it's a brand new

Thanks for your comment Khalimo.
The symbolism of the shot was quite intentional. The key however is probably newer than the lens. While it is difficult to date, the lens was made prior to 1940 but after 1930. The key is from a tug boat, it too is difficult to date but I suspect from what i remember of it, that it was probably made in the 50's or 60's.

that is a problem here Kahlima, I am sorry you have been treated in this way. I suspect that everyone experiences it when they start out, myself included. (Now, I simply don't go to some galleries because I know that the owner is insular).
Replying to people who make thoughtful comments (like yours)is my way of trying to balance the arrogance. It won't go away of course and sometimes the sheer load of comments means that I have to leave some and respond to others, so please don't be too harsh if I don't respond to everything.
Have a good week

thanks Carlos, I like that idea too.
The lens I used is kind of small. Recently I acquired a 610mm. It was used on a camera as big as a room. It was used for colour separation in a printing company. It is about 4 inched in diameter and about 5 inches long. A huge lens and very high quality...but useless now with the digital age. The aperture has a range from f9 to f 128.

Wow that was huge stuff Wayne!
The digital age made all of us trade our gear, sadly some excellent stuff had to be left behind, that's true... It seems to be a great lens

I still have all my old stuff. My favourite in in my avitar...a beautiful camera that will support a digital back....if one has the $17,000.00 US required.

This image is very deep, I like the many messages this image implies, at least in my opinion. Good composition, I like the idea that the lens unlocks a door to another world. Its been like that for me ever since I started into photography.
