i was talking about christian/jewish religious lore. abaddon wasnt quite a demon lord but the gate keeper.

Surprisingly though (or not surprising) many fallen angels rose to become Demon Kings and others to be princes. Lucifer became a prince but was so influential he practically runs hell. Abaddon is keeper of The Abyss but is also a king. The kings and princes aren't just simple lords each of them play a role or embody something similar to the angels.

awesome... although Abaddon is alot of things, but mainly it is a demon that controls the power of grasshopper swarms... Its my fav demon of em all

Interesting interpretation of Abaddon! I can never choose whether my favorite angel is Michael, Azrael, or Abaddon. Michael because he's the one who physically made Satan fall, Azrael because he's the Angel of death and thus is B.A., or Abaddon because he's clearly a really important angel but he only ever gets the one mention. Anyway, cool picture!

well as long as people are throwing info on him out there, just a tidbit of info to add apollyon is the Greek name for this angel (apollyon/abaddon both meaning destroyer)and depending on which version of the bible u read it should say this also(if u actually read the bible

Absolutely my favorite piece of yours. I like the face that no two angels of yours really look alike. Though, I was hooked by Abaddon's heavy armor, and the truly unique wings. Very awesome, I love it. You've also inspired to give a go at drawing angels. If I like my drawing, I'll post it. Though it will never touch the elegance of your designs.

-rolls eyes- Okay anyone who reads the comments who knows nothing of Biblical, Koran, or Torah history is going to be confused. First rule of thumb when it comes to religions, if you only know about one history, don't bother saying anything at all. Abaddon is an Angel/Demon (Because all demons and angels are under Jehovah no matter where they have been placed/fallen) and also the bottomless pit in the interiors of Hell. Its often that people confuse the two or try to find an explanation for the double naming. If you look at it more simply it makes sense. Abaddon means two things: 1. Death and 2. Destruction. The bottomless pit Abaddon symbolizes eternal death (i.e. "bottomless"), the Angel is an Angel of Destruction/Demon of Destruction (yes, angels can take the place of both which causes much confusion between the religions). If you're interested in Angel Lore I'd pay more attention to the Koran than the Bible, considering the Bible is more based on the Apostles point of veiw, the Angels are mentioned only in specific areas (e.g. Armageddon, Adam and Eve and things that the Angels may have done such has the "black figure". [[those who have read the Bible should know to which incident I am referring]]) However, the Koran is more Angel based simply because Muslims believe their entire faith was given by the Angel Gabriel (whom to them is D'jibril...whole different story). So, everything everyone said here about Abaddon is true, theres no need for anyone to start any form of "debate" over what it, and he, is.
Demonology and Angel Lore are my main Hobbies. I do not pay attention to Saints or anything else, just so you know I'm not trying to sound "all-knowing".
As for the picture itself: I think its wonderful Wen-M. I was browsing your gallery and this piece really caught my attention. I really adore the fact that you can't see his eyes, leaving you to wonder what they might look like...It'd be nice though to maybe see another piece of him, more in-depth..but I understand you must be very busy.
My criticism on the piece stays with the Wing however. I like how it is different and rather abnormal, and ofcourse this is my own opinion, but I'd rather see him with a "traditional" wing with maybe its own elements to it.
Overall the piece is unique and I adore it. Its one of my favorites of yours. <3
