A breast plate like that would direct any blows into the sternum, which is what you DON'T want to happen. It's why breast plates are bowed out.

No problem. I'm not a fan of it personally, it just looks silly to me, especially when there are much better design styles out there for 'female' armor, but it's a big trope at this point so I don't think it will disappear haha.

Do you know what would be even worse? A direct blow to the head while not wearing a helmet. But her not wearing a helmet doesn't seem to bother you.

I assume she just doesn't currently have her helm since this is a character design and her face needed to be visible. That doesn't change that fact that breasts on a breast plate like this would be piss poor for actual combat. If you'd like to discuss it further I'd prefer if we not do so on the artist's piece.

You can argue the boob plate is for style purposes, too? There are tons of things about this character that are far, far more impractical than breasts on the chest piece; the horribly weighted sword, the long untied hair, awkwardly-placed weapons on her holster, the fact that she looks like she's a short 120 pound woman somehow carrying 100+ pounds of armor and what must be a 60 pound sword, ect.
It bizarre and kind of creepy how people obsess over the practically of breast-shaped armor so much but never seem to give a passing thought to every other aspect of the design that is impractical.
