Sam Manson had made a poorly worded wish within earshot of the genie ghost Desiree. She had wished for something along the lines of 'being desired' but the ghost may have purposefully loosely interpretted the 'desired' and by 'whom' when granting the wish. Now Samantha is desired by many well-paying and eager johns.
