"Shingeki no Basuke Collab Entry"

HERE ARE SOME OF THE JUDGES COMMENTS:

"While the piece itself is not filled with largely contrasting colors, the detail of each character and the use of japanese words to express the theme of the piece is what allows it to take first place. It is unusual for japanese (or at least from what I've seen) to be incorporated into the title, unless its fan art, and then correctly expressed in the art piece. The intricate detail yet simple detail, from slight shadows to crumbs around the lips and the way each character clearly has an individual personality adds to the originality and creativity necessary in this piece. "

"The quality of the art piece is wonderful. It has sharp lines (not sharp as in angled, but specific) that outline each detail of the characters allowing each color to pop and the character designs to seem clean and professional, which is definitely a pro of using a computer software to collaborate with other artists. It stood apart from the rest of the entries because it had a look of polished almost to perfection that is hard to obtain when working with multiple artists who each have their own unique style."

"The clarity of the theme was perfectly expressed (once I looked up the title translation hehe - yay for only knowing English and Spanish!). The title, which roughly translates to Basketball advance, helps you notice the details on their basketball jerseys- something that otherwise may have gone unnoticed when taking in the overall piece. I like how this collaboration showed a team- which is truly at the heart of collaborations. In a collaboration you must work as a team to create a masterpiece, just like in a sports team you must work together to win the game. If that inner symbolism was not intended, it was still a wonderful coincidence that helped the theme even more in a contest of this nature. "

"Overall Impression: It is a beautiful piece that represents the idea that each person, team player or artist is an individual and, as such, has their own unique personality and style that they express every time they interact with someone else. And it is those unique personalities that help others improve or helps inspire people to do better. I loved this piece the second I looked at it, because it was so obvious that the two artists were either very good friends or good at working together because their piece showed that beautiful pieces of artwork can be achieved through the work of more than one artist. "

"Overall Impression: Once again, in a collaboration contest I enjoy artists hinting at the idea of collaboration, teamwork or conflicting or unique personalities in an art piece. "Bara and Raishin" completely expresses the idea that we are each unique and while our differences can separate us, they are also the reason and foundation for friendships. The two girls from their hair and clothing, to their eyes and makeup (tattoos?) show the differences between two people in an extreme and how they can still work together and be at peace. Beautiful work, I love the vibrant colors but the messy-rushed look of the redhead, before zooming in, next to the sharply polished dark haired girl makes the work seem messier and less professional, forcing me to give it a lower place. Loved it though! Nice job "

"Overall Impression: I like the present perfect Spanish of the title! hehe - you're speakin' my language now. The title which basically means 'It has been an impulse' seems to correctly summarize the intense emotion in that one green eye of the girl. The slightly disproportionate figures are what lowers the overall rating, but its the emotion behind the two people which was so clearly there that allows it to take third place. Relationships are like a team as well, in which two similar or dissimilar personalities connect on an intimate level and work to preserve a relationship. The intimacy expressed in her almost closed eye and the entangling of the hands is what helps this piece, which otherwise, if not for the intense emotion, would have been overlooked. "
