Description Taken about halfway up the Alum Bluffs trail in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park in Tennessee.

Really, the trail that we were on had just a small stream on it, so these pictures aren't all that dramatic. I did the best I could. Next time though, I'll get some pictures of some *real* falls and river rapids.

Dave's favorite subjects: Dead trees. Streams. Cemetaries. Strange buildings with black skies.

I'm strange I guess.

Hard shot to take, 800ISO, F22.

Came out with quite a nice effect though with the half a second shutter speed. Only a little bit of noise visible. Well done.

Excellent, thats why then. Great camera, I only picked my Canon 350D over the nikon ones because my brother has a 300D, now we can swap lenses.

All our lenses are different except our stock ones, mine's a higher revision, basicly none difference between them. I love the nikon range though, Very nice indeed.

that *would* be nice, to be able to swap lenses. My brother in law is a canon guy, and we shoot together all the time, cept, there's *no* lens swapping going on of course. Which is kinda sad

The light is beautiful in this-- how it appears to be coming from the lake, because of the impact of the falls.

I think, if it were a bigger stream, it'd lose some of it's... I dunno, beauty.

BAH. Cemetaries and dead trees are wonderful.

Good thing you like cemetaries and dead trees then.. cause every time I see one, I'm like "HEY! That would be a great shot!".. so I keep getting sucked in. You'd think I'd learn...

Now this is a great photo! The lighting is great and the b/w is very effective. I love the contrast in the lighting and contrast between the softness of water and the sharpness of the wood and rocks.

Did you have use an ND filter for this shot?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

XusafchiefX In reply to Juliusius [2006-07-26 01:39:38 +0000 UTC]

Ha! I WISH I had my ND filter on me when I took the shot, but alas.. i left it back in the hotel (to which I kicked myself all day). Luckily, the lighting was so poor that deep down in the forest, that a simple polarizer was barely enough to get me by.
