Sorry for all the grammatical errors, I'm not really very good in the English grammar!!!Thank you a lot to for helping me to fix the grammar!!!
When I start this, I was so afraid of what could happen if I ost it, but I'm happy of doing right now!
Before someone say something like: WHO ARE YOU TO TELL HOW MAKE OCs?!?!?! Well, I not order you to read or follow what it says, I did this Tutorial for everybody that would like read it or for those new artists that doesn't know how start their stories and everything! Because today we seen so many gallery of people full of talent but that only does always bishonens or pretty girls (or boys that look like pretty girls), that doesn't risk to try new styles or ideas for fear of what other people could say!
So, if I insulted someone with this tutorial, I apologize and not take it personal because this is my opinion only!

I think you're mistaking there. We can't really compare, since demons don't exist, but things and traits that can seem awesome to you, are normal and mundane to some people - to the extent they bring lots of problems instead of being a gift. For example, a friend of mine is a sports champion, lots of medals and stuff, and she doesn't treat it like something awesome, instead complaining of how little time for herself she has, how championships ruin her plans, how much money does it take, etc. Another girl I know receives a lot of male attention, and often gets mad at how even the best of her friends eventually want more than just be friends. Everything has its drawbacks. It's the same like people watch movies and dream of being a star, disregarding the fact that an actor's work is very hard and they have little to no privacy. Why can't a magical being dream of a life that is quiet and secure? It's all the matter of how believeable you make it, I think.

well, you have some right in what you say, but I will answer this:
I'm totally sure that if mistical creatures were everywhere, not everybody would have a hard or boring job, if that was the case, they would just want to be a normal "being" in their land and still being what they are. For exaple ourself, just because your job could be something you don't like, taht doesn't mean you wanna be an animal and live in the free but dangerius world, right?
"don't liking what you are (or hating yourself)" is different from "don't liking your life-style"

I like to shorten the "how to do oc's" into: its not good guys and bad guys, its just guys (and girls)
and the second point is that characters are complex.
They have many agendas, many attributes, good bad, and mainly in between.

Agree, even the people that makes their OCs as Mary sues...... =w=' They need to learn to make an OC that can be just right for everyone and they have to have some flaws. All of my OCs have at least one flaw that I can name, but since I have so many OCs that's around 50 of them I'm not going to name them all. But a lot of of my OCs has something happening in their past, like some of them has their parents being killed in some way in their childhood and it scars them in the way for life. .........I think I just fell off topic of the comment here, lol.

This pretty much sums up why it took me more than 2 weeks to design my characters.
a) All of them have human emotions, some display them more than others.
b) All of them can be physically and mentally hurt.
c) All of the main cast have an abilities, but they're not born with them (there's one exception though), the abilities are part of the story and world.
d) All of them act like you and me.
e) Their clothes are not super designed to make them stand out, most of the times, the clothes are modeled/deisgned after something that is in fashion in our world, or is in practical use.
f) All of them have some stereotype, but also I've tried not to bring it out too much.

Theres a friend that I know that wants to learn to make comics, so he looked how to make characters on google, then he chuckled at how the names "kyo and ken" are in here. Funny enough those are the names of characters I have.. lol.
He said it was really helpful though.

Awesome tutorial. I agree with most of what you've said here.
I enjoy writing characters but I always tend to either overcomplicate them or make them too shallow so they end up with little natural personality. In the effort to get away from mary sue characters, i think i went too far the other way, making characters only defined by their flaws. So now I'm having to do a lot of rewrites and thinking more on how these characters are.
Thing I agree most with is the whole child hero thing. Anime in general seems to have a problem with that, they'll have heroes who are wise and strong...and then they turn out to be like 14. It just always takes out the realism in the story for me. A story I'm working on at the moment has a 13 year old main character but the fact that she's immature and needs help from the adults is integral to the plot, I'm hoping it'll be a bit more fresh compared to the usual cliches.

yeah, that can happens to, we try to make a very realistic charcters with so many flaws, but we are actually making the same than if it was a very powerful character, but in a negative way and it get unbelieve of what do because he/she doesn't have not even a little of respect for him/herself
yeah, you can't really think it is a serius bussines if even a kid is doing it! I think kids can be part of the story but not to be the main character, for example, I have one story that is about mounsters, revenge, mystic stuff and all that, and there is a girl of 15, she isn't the main character and actually can't really make something to help in those stuff, but there are some reason to keep her there!

Children don't really work in shounen shows too well it seems, I find they fit more in other genres and if the story has appropriate themes. Like my one's all about growing up so having a teenaged character was needed.
I use Tv Tropes a lot to watch out for stereotypes. If a character fits perfectly into a cliched character type (like the common magical girls, brooding vampires, tsunderes etc.), then something's gone wrong. I see them so often on here as well...

i'v always made my OC's so that the more cooler they are, the more they have stuped and wiered habits XD
and i'v always hated those character that i see in almost every manga i read. like the main character who can DO ANYTHING , the girl who the hero always has to saved , the cool-silent type characte who's always the rival of the hero, etc. and most of the time there teenagers, so how the hell can teenagers be able to beat somebody who's almost 10 years older that them? (happenes alote in shonen manga >_>)
people should always try to make something diffrent XD

yeah, those are the most common steretypes that you can find (I think!) so, is easy for most of the people to go with them! and the thing about young brats is because is the fashon of today, I mean, back in the old days, there always was an amazing adult charcter in the main cast (if he wasn't the main character) at all stories!

yeah your right, now-a-days people like to see young main characters and tend to forget about adults and cute old people. but i dont mind not seeing an adult in a romance manga, since it's better if there still high school students and i hate teacher/student couples (it's just not right!).

yeah, is like really weird, but they don't have to be pairing with the students, would be cute to see a techer or the janitor in love with the librarian or the school nurse? that would be amazing!! I totally would watch a serie like that!
