Description
It's done...It's done, diddly, done. I think I'm going to cry...
I'm really happy with this tutorial, even though it looks cheap and dodgy (took me three days to make it, and even so it still looks cheap and dodgy), because I did everything myself! I figured out all the little buttons and liksies and everything, without even using the Flash tutorials! HEEE!
As I promised the peoplies out there who keep asking me 'How the HUCK do you colour like that?!', here's a little COPIC Tutorial for you. But just because I do it this weay, doesn't mean EVERYBODY has to. Get your own style! Develop individually! Be unique! AND DON'T STEAL MY WAYS! XDDD
Enjoy!

The tutorial was very helpful since I never knew pencil could go over the marker so easily but until I can afford moar copics I only have skin tone and I use prisma for clothes. Would the white pencil work on prisma markers, if you know? I usually have trouble keeping the places that need shine empty or blended well enough with prisma so I sometimes use paint to go over but the paint sometimes absorbs it an makes it a lighter colour instead of white ;.;
Also; are there other pens that are good liners with copic that aren't as expensive? Most of the ones I have bleed when marker goes on it and I bought a bad copic liner once because the tip broke off after like 2 uses (it like unfolded or something and it broke off when I tried to outline T.T )
Thank you, though~!

I wrote that there were 214 colors when I made this tutorial, which was quite some time ago before they'd added more colors to the palette.

Thank you! >< This tutorial was really quite helpful! It would be nice, however, if (like you did with the skin) you told us what colors you were using. Other then that, I loved this, and am most certainly going to go make the deal with devil in a few moments! ;D

In the normal Copic markers, there are 214 colors, however if you choose the Sketch variety, you not only get a more comfortable shape marker, you get to choose from 322 colors! If you think about that, the total price for EVERY SINGLE COLOR in the Sketch variety is...
$2334.5 AU!!!
Wow!
They are expensive, but definitely worth it. I have the Sketch 12a color set, all the multiliners and a colorless blender, and after using them so much with great results, I'm, saving up for the 72a set. Copic markers are definitely worth buying if you can afford them and if you'll use them, but if they're just going to sit on your desk for ages not being used, don't bother, the price is too high for a paperweight. 9/10. The only downside is price.

Great tutorial, but i have a question for you, how do you manage to lay down the base color without leaving so many overlay lines and what not?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Yiji In reply to roximonoxide [2008-08-27 04:34:15 +0000 UTC]
Usually, when I work, I work in small areas, so the marker lines don't dry as I work. But for larger areas, I try to use the larger head of the pen. On the downside, though, a larger marker-brush head means a lot less control. :/

What brand paper do you use? I bought the Canson marker paper, which doesn't bleed through btw. BUT the marker dries too fast on the paper leavin streak marks if I'm not fast enough. I do mean it dries extremely fast, its hard to color in large surfaces. (Love the tutorial btw.)
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Yiji In reply to YenYenN [2008-08-07 02:43:59 +0000 UTC]
Ooogh, I don't really know my brand names... o_O''' I really suck at details. Mostly I figure out what textures I need by touching the paper and feeling it well with my fingertips. But then again, I am a freak... =_='''
If your paper makes the marker dry too fast, maybe try some more porous paper, for example a type of thicker, watercolour-based paper. It should keep the marker wet, but not soak through.

Hugs and, once again, thank you!
