A planet crackled into view, filling the window that was half of the cockpit's convex space-- pink."Inhabitable?" You say.
"93% chance that it is inhabited by intelligent life. You can ignore it though, there are more pressing matters. This universe is filled"
"It seems so."
"what do you propose we do? you are onsite" said the voice. It was your A.I.
As you awoke in your tiny flower-shaped cockpit, a backwards bud hurling through space, you remember very little other than that. This universe was supposed to be one of the blank ones, and you were to fill it.
The ship you pilot is a Seed, in many senses. It has the ability to plunge into any object, of almost any size (absolutes have not been determined), and explore the essence of it. If the ship were to leap into the heart of a galaxy, you would explore stars, black holes, quasars. If you were to leap into the heart of a star, you would explore magnetic surges, energies, nuclear forces and the churning elements. The same is true of a person, an element, or a brain. Objects can be collected from the explored regions of these bizarre forms of space, collected in the form of essence.
This Seed ship can load up pure essence of any type collected by the pilot or the A.I. and inject it, with a blast into any object, altering it. It can fire an essence into empty space, allowing it to become a world of itself, or a universe even.
Upon exploring the essence of a thing, the ship is able to assume that world as if it belonged there, altering it's structure and the pilot so that the fundamental laws of that miniature universe do not expel the intrusion. Only then can you truly explore a universe freely, when altered by it. (to be clear, whenever you enter an object, you change)
But all you can remember is that you were to fill this space with an earth-world, with a solar system to provide a space for people, presumably. You have aboard your ship just that-- Essence of Solar system and all the things within it.
You are not surrounded by empty space. Indeed there is a pink planet, likely inhabited, and billions of twinkling stars. What a disaster.
The A.I., impatient for your decision interrupts you. "Well? What shall we do?"

They shook their heads. One of them, with two heads, smiled. "you should stay with us then. we weren't always all female. but something...happened." you can feel the a.i. trying to send you a message. "psst. hey, so I wouldn't eat their food, but maybe it's good to talk to them and find out what happened"

"what happened to you that turned you all female?"

The one with two heads led you to the galley where most were seated. "we're not sure exactly. but we received a signal from the neighboring sector and when we tuned into it, our ship began to change and our bodies also changed rapidly. We also detected that we had changed course to this planet's orbit. We don't know how to get control of our ship since then. But we've noticed on the view finder that there are others with identical ships here as well. " another woman chimed in, more human-like, but with a shark fin on her back, "We turned female over the course of 48 hours and it was very disturbing" she said.

"Nothing. There was no sense to it. just a beep. I won't play it now that you are here" said a totally bald, red woman, wearing red.

"so you said that the transformation takes up to 48 hours and you don't know what causes it?"

"no, we don't. We all heard it and the ship seemed to resonate it, so we turned it off. But it changed the ship as well" she said.

"I see so the signal probably caused it."

"yes" said the one closest to you with two heads. THe a.i. chimed in, "so this just sucks by the way, because if it's a signal, then anyone could have heard that from across the galaxy. we still haven't determined how wide the universe is or how "old" it is, even though we just created it...maybe we will need to get another source of the signal and see how far away it's source is?"
"who is talking to you?" said a green woman with horns.

"A friend, um would you know how far the source of the signal is?"

"from here it's 20 light years away"
The a.i. hummed i your ear, "at least we know the universe is at least 20 light years across now"

"is there anything else I should know?"

"not sure" says the woman in front of you. "for what?"

"about this place in general"

"huh?" she looks at you, not understanding. "you want to know more about us? or what?" She shrugs, "I mean, we are part of a confederacy of systems that contributed explorers to this cause. We grew up in a colony together and were picked to be the crew. Some of us were female to begin with...I dunno, any questions?" she looked confused. "how about you? where are you from?" the a.i. popped in at this point, talking to you, "they probably won't understand that we're not from this universe...or that we accidentally created this universe. best not to tell them. make something up"

I make up something convincing as an explanation (couldn't think of anything)

The nod and look confused. "well, that's nice. I guess we'll be seeing you later" the a.i. chirps in your helmet. "it would be best for us to move on."

"Right" I head back to my ship hoping nobody would follow me

When you arrive, you notice that the ship seems to be cloaked. The a.i. chirps and the ship's front opens, a long mechanical stairway slops out of the front like a tongue and the cockpit opens like a mouth. it is no longer cloaked. "where to?"

"well probably off this comet before something transforms me for no reason"

"affirmative" the Seed lifted off and flew to a space far enough from the comet that it was a speck now. "should we go to one of the others?"

"yes we should examine one of the other ones"

The next ship came into view. Before you know it you are landing. "this one looks identical" says the a.i. "maybe if they have the signal we can map where this signal is coming from?"

"right let's head there and see if they have the signal"

You landed quickly, the mouth opening, letting you out onto the surface. there was a hatch, almost identical in structure. the outside of the commet was slightly darker, but still pink.

"I wonder why this one is darker?" I say as I head towards the hatch

The hatch seems to be the same as the one before, opening like an orifice.

I go down it hoping to find the signal here so I could trace it

There are women down there as well, only they look more like insects, and some of them seem to be in a form of match, like a wrestling match. "intruder alert!" you hear.

There is enough clutter that you can hide behind it. So far no one of the women running past has detected you. the a.i. crackled in your ear. "good one, now what?"

*I whisper* "I don't know, I didn't know these ones would be hostile"

"If you get captured, we might actually get separated. I have protocols for rescue, but can't guarantee that you'll actually be safe. My best recommendation right now is to zoom out or zoom in. Warning though...if you zoom in you might actually come into contact with the contaminant and we could lose you..."

"that's a risk I'll have to take zoom in"

"okay" You felt a strange sensation as the ship warped around you, like it was expanding, shifting, and then suddenly you felt like you were falling. "I need to catch you before it will allow you in. your body will need to take on the essence of this comet" said the a.i., swooping down beside you, opening it's "mouth". "get in" it said.

The world of color all around you shifted. It was like you were falling through a miles tall atmosphere. The Seed swallowed you, and you were inside the cockpit, still falling. "awesome, I got ya!" it said, "now to shift...one second" You felt a surge of energy go through your body, noticing your hair on your head immediately evaporating into a comet-like trail blowing straight up.

"Whenever you 'zoom in' you need to become a part of the object you are entering or you aren't part of it's essence, and so can't exist there! The alternative is anything you enter becomes transformed immediately as you are now part of it's essence! Instead, we are going to change YOU and you'll fit right in on this comet world" you notice that your fingers are becoming colder and colder, but instead of it hurting, it was preventing you from falling apart, as you were evaporating quickly. Soon you were crystalline, mostly ice, and you had a trail of dust coming off of you, mostly made of crystals. "you are basically a comet fragment, that looks like you!" said the a.i. Soon the Seed landed. "shall we go outside?"

Leaving the ship, you notice that you are not on the surface of a comet, but rather are surrounded by many floating comets. All of them are balls mostly (some are a little off from that shape, but generally they are spheroid) and floating around. They seem to be close enough, however that you could easily jump from one, switching gravity to the other, and traveling easily along. They are different colors, with different patterns on them. ONe of them seems to be mechanical, another seems to have short people walking around on it, and another seems to be glowing purple.

A quick hop and you were there. They looked up at you collectively, "careful not to hurt them..." said the a.i.

"right" I decide to see what the short people look like

They look like bugs shaped like humans. They have four limbs, but little pincher hands, and mandibles on their faces.

"My guess is they are the crew. or some kind of representation of the crew anyway" it said.

"that would make sense of their size and appearance" I say as I try to see if I could talk to one of them
