Kan Kuro Goathill

Kan is a native of a tiny arctic village. As normal of all of the people of his village, his parents were very impersonal. The family shared a weak, although necessary bond.
His uneventful childhood was dotted with bright spots of visitations of travelers from far-away lands that brought with them exciting tales of fantastic places Kan couldn't even begin to imagine. He spent most of his youth resentful of his frozen home, but pretended to be an explorer of exotic lands and frequently ran off to the coast to watch the ships come in and out. He learned to read from one of the many explorers he came across, and since then has held only books sacred.
In his late teens, Kan had finally had enough of the frozen plains and stowed away on a ship. He was eventually discovered crawling around on the deck looking for food, but the crew found him amusing, fed him, and let him stay until they made port. They put together a backpack full of supplies and showed him around the city they’d stopped in before letting him loose.
Years of drifting eventually landed Kan in a tidy shop by the name of The Graymalkin. The Graymalkin was run by a curiously young-looking Clawson named Zoisite who, after realizing Kan’s situation, offered him a job as a ‘supplier’. In exchange for a small pad, tiny paycheck and supplies, Kan would do as he had been doing before and roam around, but if he came upon any interesting items, he would bring them back to Zoi. Of course, Kan’s definition of interesting and Zoi’s were worlds apart, and Kan’s understanding of laws and ethics was non-existent, so he tended to end up in trouble the first few years. Zoi, who was always kind (although he was also always exasperated and appeared to being doing nice things against his own will), often had to bail Kan out of whatever mess he ended up in. After some time, Kan caught up on a few basic social rules and came to better understand the concept of ‘interesting’, and brought Zoi quite a few profitable items after his excursions.
Although Kan does think he has a pretty nice hook-up (he couldn’t care less about money, which he doesn’t understand, and a house he’s almost never in, but he does like not having to worry about food or tools), his favorite (but not main) reason for returning to Zoi’s shop after some weeks of exploring is his infatuation with Zoi’s friend and fellow businesswoman, Seylaa. Kan’s only impression of romantic relationships comes from old adventure novels, so he believes that girls like strapping, confident young men with mad skillz. Thus, Kan tries to brag and act cool around Seylaa, but she can easily see through that and finds him funny.
During one of his ‘adventures’, he found a Snow Fox, which he figured was ‘interesting’ and brought him back to Zoi. Zoi didn’t want it, saying it wouldn’t fetch much profit, but suggested that Kan keep it. Kan named the Snow Fox Indiana, after (who else?) Indiana Jones, and keeps him around as a pet and traveling partner. Indiana likes to “hide” in Kan’s hair and crawls all over his master. He’s yet to find anything he’s afraid of, and is known to jump from obsession to obsession (for a few days he carried around a stuffed toy in his mouth and would refuse to let anyone else touch it; a few days later, it was the same with Kan’s favorite sweater).
Kan also befriended a young Keeto girl by the name of Sweetums who lives around Zoi’s shop. Sweetums idolizes Kan and a good amount of the items Kan returns with, Zoi never sees, and end up under her bed.
Kan is also good buddies with the quiet and thoughtful Dioscuri, a tenant in Seylaa’s boarding house.
