Description
This is my transformers version of ''bahamut'' (from the ''final fantasy'' series). It was heavily inspired by ''megatron'' (from the ''transformers'' movie). It's fully rigged and can transform from a tank (vehicle mode) to a mecha (combat mode) and vice versa. It was originally an old model I've reworked on lately, this time it's optimized and re-textured (unwrapped and painted). The final model contains around 140k polys, using 4x2048x2048 texture sheets, and some procedural maps.
The modeling, unwrapping, rigging, posing & animating all done in 3ds Max. Texture creation and post editing in Photoshop.

Softwares: 3ds max 2008, Vray 1.5 (stills), Photoshop CS4 (stills), After Effect CS4 (animation).

This is so impressive. I love the texturing, it's so detailed and just omg.. I can't imagine how a UV map would look with an object like this. lol. The transformation is awesome aswell. How did you rig it for that? Any chance of a wire mesh with bones to see the hookup ?
+favs for this and the vid

thanks, I rigged it using biped in 3ds Max, and there are some hierarchies from the biped to the body parts.. I have some construction images in my website showing the bones, body parts and the wires, u can check it out here: www.thestrauss.com

I really should be checking out 3DS Max a bit more.. I tend to use Maya for practically everything I do. First time I opened Max every single pane was open and it looked so clunky n cluttered. Horrible! It may have changed since then though.
I'll hop onto your website
