Description Mustang Man: Work In Progress

This is a private commission based on the cover art of Louis L'amour's Mustang Man. The original artist is not credited in the book, but as far as I can tell it is signed 'Hartman' and my search for more info has been fruitless.

The instructions were to keep it rough, though there is still a bit to be done here, hands, adjusting folds etc.. The Penguin he is currently standing on will sadly be replaced by a branch or something.

Medium: Super Sculpey & Primo, Wood barrel on the Winchester.

'Yeah, that penguin got what he deserved, for being so cute and huggable that is. Stupid penguins!'
(ps. the above quote must be said out loud with a cowboy accent).

I have yet another technical question. I'm familiar with Super Sculpey but what is Primo and why do you use it?

Don't forget the spurs.

Spurs, Check!! Yeah, Primo! is just another polymer clay, infact it's a Sculpey brand, I mix the black with Super Sculpey so I can better see detail, it also seems to make it less likely to crack. Then again that could all just be in my head (like the thought that all Canadians have a keen sense of humor), but it does make the details easier to see.

I know those covers, you might try a bit sharper planes in the shirt, it looks a little chubby at this point. Oh course I realize it's still early on with this piece.

Yeah I agree, sometimes it's not untill you take a pic that you can truly feel the angles. But thats why I take alot of pics. Thanks for the suggestion.
