Description
I have been wanting to try this for ages, colouring a black and white drawing in Photoshop,
so here's my first real attempt at it,
a coloured version of my Charlize drawing.
Used Photoshop, and took about 6 hours,
original drawing was about 30 hours.
Many thanks for looking.

It worked out pretty well! Great coloring!
I always wondered how the hell they colored the comics of artist Jay Anacleto, do you know him?
Keep it up!

You're very welcome!
He's an artist working in the comics-industry. Back in 2001 I was collecting his works. He makes smooth shaded pencil-drawings that are then colored in Photoshop. Another one that's working this way is Adi Granov who works on the "IronMan" series.

You sound like me, that's what I always ask when someone tries digital !!
Yes I now plan to draw everything in black and white and then do a digital
colour version (well, perhaps not every one of them!)

Good old Photoshop !!
Plenty of layers, and hue / colour for some of the layers etc.
It can get a bit involved but I really enjoyed doing it,
and hoping to do a lot more in the future.

LOL... I'm sorry, man...
You want to know what I used to color this piece? I used mostly the Hue/Saturation tool. I've got CS3, which has adjustment layers--I can do each color on a separate layer and not touch the underlaying pencils. This will also tint the pencils, which is a good thing.
Something to play around with when you've time.

Hi Wade, Yeah I used all manor of different things
including using the "colour" option for one of the skin layers
rather than "normal" I think you'll know what I mean !
I was also keen not to disturb the pencils too much,
I think that there's a fine balancing act between when you
need to use something like hue or colour and when to actually
"paint" over the pencil marks,
I was really happy with the outcome though, and am looking forward
to colouring a lot more in the future.
I don't think you'll have to worry too much for a while yet though
having looked at your excellent Amando Huerta colouring job !!
