Wavedancer, the friendly pink sea pony from my story Sun, Surf and FriendshipI wanted to sort of reintroduce sea ponies, but I thought that the original, seahorse-type characters always looked rather odd. Besides, I think a hippocamp fits better with the whole FiM world.
Original character of Wavedancer is (C) Hasbro. I just put my own spin on her.
PLEASE NOTE: I used a reference pic of a hippocampus drawn in FiM style as a basis for this piece. I originally found it on one of the pony image boards but I can't find it again. So credit goes to the artist, whoever it is.

I wouldn't mind sea horses if they did like mermaids I mean we get what they be going for since the age group usually know what a sea horse is flutter ponies could be like the horse flies of the world

Unfortunately Lauren is no longer executive producer, and the second season is already finishing its post production. Plus, I'm sure she's bombarded with suggestions from bronies across the web. At least we mean well, right?

I wasn't aware others had drawn hippocampi. I guess this is a popular pose for them. I didn't know that youd done this and I drew one in a similar pose. That's what I meant by "popular pose" Since I'm only aware of three at this point, mine, yours and the one you referenced. I need to show somepony your work here.

I think the pose just suits them so well. But yeah, it seems a lot of people draw sea ponies in FiM style as hippocamps rather than the rather odd looking original types. I think they just work far better. And, thanks.

I thought there was two kinds of water-going ponies? The seahorse looking Sea ponies, and the dolphin-tailed Mer ponies. I know the toys had that, but I don't know about the cartoon.

Not sure. I just tried to reinvent the sea-ponies since the seahorse kind from the past look very strange. Plus I thought hippocamps fit the FiM world better.

Yeah, since I found out how they look when I got curious about the original series. I'd have to look around to be able to back up what I said, but still. Besides. As someone who likes both horses and dolphins the hippocampi are really really hard to dislike anyway. ^^
