It seems that all of you in need of seeing this tradition go on can be satisfied. I would direct you to the account of TheseKrimzonFlames where you will find links to a new account where his version of DLD will go on in a new and different form.

I am awaiting a journal entry from VertigoArt to post here with his thoughts on our closing of this particular project. It will be posted soonest.

Few know of my own love and time put into this project because few worked night and day alongside me to take care of everything possible from general administration duties to contests, to answering 100s of messages a day and soliciting everywhere possible for all that we needed and more... that is all I have to say about that--those who know, know.

Though nothing I did or said was untrue or unprofessional in my own mind, I do owe the community an apology for the sudden nature of this closing. It has been coming from behind the scenes for some time now and not even the admins were aware. I understand and appreciate all of the love for DLD and the protective, albeit insulting, nature some of you have displayed in defense of DLD. So let this be my apology for taking you all off guard and also my best wishes to the lit projects spawned as a result of this closing.

May all continue to be well and I'll post Will's thoughts asap.

Peace.

Lisa

Seems to me you could have someone replace you, rather than close the group. Ah well. What is lost can be replaced. Thanks for wrapping things up a little more nicely with this one.

making an observation based upon some of the
accumulated comments, Lisa:

- you have felt pride of creation for DLD.
- you enjoyed the extended effort you contributed,
[otherwise you would not have done it].
- for reasons of your own, you desisted.
- your baby is doing fine without you.
- you cannot seem to accept that.
- so now, you're killing the baby,
[when others wish to adopt it].

have i got that right?
it's often very difficult to be honest with oneself.
or... am i totally wrong in this conclusion?

My baby--our baby--has been doing fine without me for quite some time and I refrained from killing it. It may not have been all that it was meant to be though and that is why the extended plan for closure started more than a year ago. The happenings just came about so suddenly... and yes--one key resignation was my last straw. I don't do it out of spite and I hadn't planned to do it this way exactly but the events of the day have happened and it is what it is now. I am merely waiting for VertigoArt to add his two cents or ten and I will let it sit and the future will go to the new that rise from these flames and hopefully the admins that were present at its closing. I have merely let all the jumping to conclusion and hate play out. No-one ever gave me a chance to get to the part of offering anything up for them to take with them but guns have been jumped. I do not respond to flaming or people telling me what I will do as opposed to asking. Now we shall see where who goes and who does what.

it still appears that you're destroying
something that others have and would
continue to value.  plus in closing the
account, you're devaluing all the DLDs
which have been awarded in the past,
i think.  how does one 'own' what has
been shared for so long?  it has become
part of the dA 'commons', i would say.

so what if it doesn't run exactly the way
you intended?  it does run very nicely in
the opinions of many many others. why
take that away.  DLD has great value to
the community.

it is difficult to ascertain the motivations
of another, but to me, it looks like you
are in a spiteful snit.

please, give the account to the community.
according to the rules of dA, you may own
it.  according to the greater good, i think,
you do not...

It's not MY version of anything, it's something we're doing, together. Why are you completely missing the truth here?

OK Jamie, I've had enough. I was trying to give you (and yours) props. Nothing is good enough for you though and you thrive on drama. Please refrain from being argumentative and nasty, you are given the respect of mention--that will be all. Thank you for being such an avid supporter of what you say you loved. You will get no argument from me.

Ok, I'm looking for the nasty, but the only one dropping it is YOU. WE'VE moved on, YOU keep posting journals here whining about it all. So, as I said earlier, I'M the one whose had enough, we ALL have, of YOU. PLEASE STOP TALKING. The hole you're digging just hit China.

You know, you just aren't getting it, you're choosing to ignore reality, and I'm truly sorry for that.
