Description Ishikawa Goemon is a popular Japanese hero, that lived in 16th century. He stole the gold from the rich, and gave it to the poor, but unlike Robin Hood, he was caught, and sentenced to death by being boiled alive in an iron cauldron along with his small son. Due to the legend, he was able to save his son by holding him above the oil until his own death.

I guess they also wanted to get rid of the probable avenger of his father... It's still tragical though

Laws...... they are unexceptional to the good, and always bow down to the evil money... sigh

I never heard of that story before, it's so sad but compelling. Lovely picture, I especially like the detail of the dimple in the child's cheek. And the look upon the father's face is just heartwrenching. Fabulous work as always!

What a terrible story! and what a touching example of fatherly love... I didn't knew this part of his story... this picture is truly tender, and very touching. Child's eyes, oblivious to what's going on, so confident in his father... terrible
Great picture

I also was fascinated by the story...
