Description
A Man of ReasonEWS © 2012
A new project A Man of Reason centered on Steampunk has given me a chance to build some new models and textures. New models for this project are the: Room, Gas Lights, Barometer, Clock, Corner Cabinet, Stand, Research Table models and textures I have developed for this project. I have developed texture, bump and displacement maps for the robots.
I am currently working on models to replace the tall cabinet, chairs and curtains in addition to a few new models.
A thank you to CG Textures for their great catalog of textures.
Inspiration: Steampunk, Isaac Asimov, Robert Heinlein
Hexagon, DAZ Studio4, GIMP, UVMapPro
C&C are welcome.
Thank you
EWS

Very nice work!
It's so refreshing seeing a well modeled, textured (and lit!) 3D piece!

Great scenery! The surrounding room is very complete in all its features, colors and textures, and the central focus on the android on the table is very good. I personally think this piece would look a lot better with some softer, less even lighting effects rather than appearing to have massive fluorescent lights in the ceiling somewhere. Lots of shadows and yellower light would not only be more realistic, but also give your scene that wonderful old-English atmosphere.

Great advice Dandabug, I do want to achieve a Gas Light look and I do need to yellow the lights some (missed that). I have been struggling with the lighting it seems to either be to bright or to dim. I have more work on this project so will do the lights again and think about what you have said.
Cheers
Ed

Glad I could offer some useful advice! I would be lost trying to create as much sharp detail as you have (simply amazing), but definitely agree that some changes in lighting tones will make your superb detailing much clearer and more impressive.

Thank you again. It is always useful to see how others see things and things I miss.
