Some things are hard to do in the story - yes the bump is high. I was going for a wetter look when the cloth has started to come apart because it has started to swell, which would happen in wetlands or a jungle.

Filter? as in what kind Postwork?

everything from plants to their faces seem like an amount of "paint daub" filter was added...

I hand painted the faces, the hands, and a few other items (pistols), been practicing learning to paint a bit with a tablet. Not sure what your seeing on the plants. The background monster=tenticals I used a couple filters from adobe elements. I used a DOF effect in the render with the camera that accounts for some of what you may be seeing on the plants.
