Description This is the continuation of my previous mock-up of what Ubuntu could end up like as a mobile operating system. I've put together what I think multi-tasking could look like and what some key applications could look like. As always feedback and thoughts are welcome. I hope to put more of my ideas together about the Ubuntu Phone platform in the future. I hope you enjoy this piece. w'Salaam ~ Peace.

Made with Inkscape and GIMP on Linux Mint 11

How do you create this mockup? Is there a tutorial? Thank you.

Well it took a while and was done mostly on Inkscape but no there isn't a tutorial.

the firefox icon is just amazing!!

everything is really cool, but that icon took my attention. Do you made it yourself?

No its part of the Faenza icon set its been replaced with a newer icon for firefox but you can still find this one in the faenza icon folder if you want to use it.

Interesting concept. It would be nice if the static section(Left of screen) had a hide feature.
Great Job.

Yeah thats a good idea maybe that option should be in the settings for the sake of ease of use though

This is an impressive UI, but I think the notification bar at the top seems empty with everything crammed onto the right side. I personally would distribute all those notifications evenly across the bar.

(If you ask, the notification bar I'm talking about is the portion of the screen at the top that tells you things like how strong your WiFi signal is or how much battery power you have left before you need to recharge.)

Thanks for the compliment, I'm glad you liked it.

TBH I prefer the iOS model of a notification bar as small as possible and the actual home screens being used for notifications, notifications on Android did were better but the notification bar would quickly get cluttered and it wouldn't give much information e.g. how many new emails, how many updates or how many missed calls.

Also i wanted the notification bar to somewhat resemble that of WP7 in that it just blends into the running app rather than being separate interface.

What Android phone did you use? I have an HTC Aria, and although it doesn't give much information either, the notification bar that usually comes with HTC phones does tell me things like how many missed phone calls, new emails, that kind of stuff. You might have used a different UI than me.

Although I do agree, home-screens are a great place for notifications!

I had a HTC Desire for about 10 months and a Samsung GSII for a few weeks also from what I can remember if you had new emails and or missed call you get and icon in the notification bar and when you pulled the bar down then it would list the missed calls and tell you how many emails you've received. What I like about the notification centre on iOS is that it gives you a list of the emails you've received rather than just the number of new emails.

That's really impressive. You really put a lot of thought into this. I'd be willing to buy a smartphone just for this . I'm sort of confused though, would we swipe downwards and towards the left, or swipe from the left (to the right) and from the bottom (to the top)?

I'm glad you liked it, just to clarify. Swipe downwards from the first home screen to get to the next one and upwards from the last home screen. And to the left to get to the multitasking view and to the right to return to the home screen .

Thanks for explaining, it seems like a pretty sweet concept. I'd look forward to having this on a smartphone.
