"Why is your room neat? Do you have OCD or something?""Ugh, my friends didn't eat lunch with me. I'm sodepressed" <-- (This one, a girl at my school actually told me.)
"She's SOO bipolar!"
"I'm such an insomniac!"
Mental Illnesses are not adjectives, and they never will be.
I hate seeing people at my school constantly use mental illnesses as adjectives. Mental illnesses are conditions that you are diagnosed with, that are not fun to live with. They are not when your boyfriend doesn't text you back or when you like things neat and tidy. They are mental handicaps that make it harder to live your daily life. Sure they could worsen the previous situations, but those situations themselves rarely ever cause mental fucking illnesses. It's getting panic attacks when your teacher puts the spotlight on you in math. It's not wanting to ever leave your bed because there isn't a point to live anymore, because life is simply "work and then die". It's hearing and seeing things that aren't really there to others, but you are convinced they're there because YOU see and hear them. It's NOT staying up late and then claiming to have insomnia. It's NOT feeling sad or bummed out and claiming to have chronic fucking depression.

And I've seen plenty of people who aren't so what's your point? I'm sorry you're going through this but the world doesn't revolve around mentallay ill people. So what if I'm not disabled? Are you saying I can't talk about it or are you saying that because I don't agree with this stamp that means I'm not disabled? There are people who are disabled who don't agree with you. Every time I hear about a shooting at a school or more recently at a grocery store, I always hear about how someone who's mentally ill is able to own a gun, I want there to be strict gun laws so that mentally ill people don't get guns without a strict background check and mental history. I can make jokes, use adjectives and still care about mental issues, I can multi-task when it comes to this stuff. And I love how you assume I'm not disabled just because I don't agree with you, not everyone agrees with you, we aren't a hive mind.

Okie dokies, you do you. I mention that perhaps you aren't disabled because I know people who aren't wouldn't normally know what it feels like or why it hurts people. Also asking for common respect given to the non-mentally ill is not making the world revolve around them. It's literally just asking to be treated like humans.
I see you're unable to see why using serious terms in a blatantly derogatory fashion is hurting people.

I'm not a robot, I know that words hurt people but all I can say to that is get a thicker skin especially when you're on the internet. So let's say I'm was disabled or going through depression but still have the same views...wouldn't that prove it doesn't hurt everyone? If you want to be treated like a human then wouldn't be insulting to be constantly walking on eggshells? But it's not the reason people aren't not taking mental health seriously, how many people do you think fake mental illness, how many criminals do you think plea for insanity to get a shorter sentence!? People take advantage of that to either get sympathy or not to take responsibility and that's what's hurting people with actual mental health issues.

I can be nice to people, I'm just saying we shouldn't walk on eggshells and treat these people like they're glass. It's insulting to them to give them special treatment when they want to be treated like everyone else, I want them to get help but if a depressed person gets in my face and acts like they're entitled to my respect then people who act like that can go to hell.

You're STILL missing my point. It's not about treating anyone special, it's just about not insulting people for things they can't help.
I'm against special treatment, literally all I'm saying is that trivializing mental illness hurts people.

The actions of people who use mental health to get sympathy or fake it to get a lighter sentence in prison is what hurts mental illness. Words can hurt you but you have to learn how to get a thicker skin so it won't bother you anymore, if people are constantly faking mental illness then people who do have problems won't get help or won't be taken seriously. Words can only hurt you if you let it but the actions of many people hurt those for the long term.

I understand that faking is wrong, duh. I'm not stupid.
I just can't understand what you have against people being nice to each other.

Okay...answer this question, let's say I make a joke about austism to an autistic person and that person finds it funny but then another autistic person doesn't find that funny and calls it offenseive...am I treating the autistic person nicely when they found my joke funny? Or should I just apologize because another autistic person doesn't find it funny? If I can joke openly about autism with an autistic person...then doesn't that mean I'm treating that person like person?

I really can't figure out what's so hard for you to get about what,I'm saying.
Example time: Some black people find the "n word" funny in jokes, others are offended. Does it make it an okay word to say? Not really.
You keep saying respecting people offended is special treatment, it's just not.
This stamp isn't even about jokes, it's about taking illness lightly and using it as an adjective.

Well, I think it is okay based on the context but you use it to attack then yes it's a problem.
No, I'm saying giving people special treatment just because they have a mental Illness is wrong.
And I'm saying that the actions of people taking advantage of mental illness is hurting people more. Mental illness shouldn't be taken lightly but my point is that not everyone is offended by it being used as an adjective.

So when you say you are depressed from depression that would be okay right? Cause otherwise I am confused on how to state what I am going through.

Yes, that's what I mean. I dislike it when people are sad or disappointed and say "I'm depressed" instead. Depression =/= Sadness, depression is much more than that.
