Alright, so I've been seeing many things- mainly on Tumblr, that my friend shows me- of people using the term "womyn" instead of "woman/women". It's super confusing. Most of them, who are part of the feminist movement (the radical side) are trying to change the word because it has man in it, and apparently it means "of men" to them. The first I heard of this was in grade 7, when we all had to make advertisements and products, and a couple of my female peers pretended to make hipster clothes. They referred to women as womyn because "women means of men and that's oppressive because we're strong individuals." The thing is, who the fuck cares? Just because it has the word man/men in it, that doesn't mean it means something. Just keep the English language as it is, please.Related content

I'm not female but whenever I see "womyn", "womxn", etc I just get pissed because I just hate the way they look. Feminism lost its original meaning and now people think everything is sexist. The suffragettes would be ashamed.

"Womyn" has actually been around for a while (according to Wikipedia, it was first used in 1976), but yeah, it's ridiculous. As are "wommon", "wimmin", and "womban".
Apparently now some people are using "womxn" to refer to transgender women and women of color. What? Since when did the word "woman" only refer to white women?
