Description For anyone that's noticed i have been pretty quiet this week, here is the reason, the scratch build up on my collaboration with . i wanted to push myself a bit with this build(seeings how i am not doing the painting) so while this might not look like a lot, its took a TON of time this week to get the model to this point. for the first few days i was screaming in my head"what the F%$# am i doing" but after a week of hard work i think i have something to show for it and am pretty happy with what i have got done. This is still in the rough build stage, rest assure that more detail is planned, along with a killer paintjob and base.

One of the Biggest challenges was designing  and building a model that would come apart for ease of paint and detailing.most of the work you see is from scratch building different sections of the model with styrene plastic sheets. the scratch built front drivers cab not only comes apart but has fittings for many easy to install windows.driver compartment is removable to revealing engine compartment. the crane moves and detaches via magnet/sliding. the trailer is posable and removable as well.  lastly the tracks and running gear does all come apart and had to be engineered differently because the kits original ruining wheels were toast.
i picked up a couple sets of stowage to mix with what i have on hand , so  this build will be brimming with resin detail. the nuts/bolts hopefully will add some wild detail as well.i have loads of plans and a box filled to the brim with bits, so it looks like i am in for some fun.

this is still in pretty rough shape(tonight ill do more sanding, building, and fixing stuff lol) but now at least most of the rough and scratch work is done. starting next week ill be loading up the details and figuring out where where everything goes.

As always, questions, comments and suggestions welcome.

nice, nice indeed.  just the advice regarding nuts and bolts- PLUS MODEL  has a better quality nuts/bolts  in 0,7mm than Meng in 1mm.
meng nuts in 0.8mm look like rivets and PMs  nuts in 0.7 have 6 sides normally visible
difference is  with meng you get 2 types - 3 sizes - 240 pieces of each size
and with PM you get 4 types - one size- 60 pieces of each size
-----for the same price
so if you need numbers you go with meng and if you need quality you go with PLUS MODEL

I am literally convulsing right now with joy. Just curious, the black styrene on the crane, is that painted or did the stock come in that color?

enc86 In reply to StyreneRobot [2015-03-02 17:59:08 +0000 UTC]

hahaha awesome dude, that's good to hear. in a week or so and ill be sending it your way(depending on how much i work i get done lol)

the black parts are standard stock plastic just for some reason modeled in black. came in an "assortment" bag of styrene sheet.

And this is gonna so cool when finish )

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

enc86 In reply to foley1310 [2015-03-01 22:48:16 +0000 UTC]

thanks man, it was a week of measuring, cutting, sanding and swearing lol.

bolts are like what they gave me with the dozer. i just carefully "shave" them off the runner with my knife and glue to model. its two sided as well nuts/bolts are on either side, so it provides approximately an ass load of tiny detail.

yea i am hoping it will be killer. gonna try to load it up with detail for robot and i am sure he will nail the painting.
