Description
Upon driving farther east into urban Kansas City, KS, I came across a rare CSX run-through on the UP transcon, hauling a unit oil train westbound down the Marysville sub. Where it ended up, I'll never know.On the point are CSX ES44AC #5457 and ex-Conrail C40-8W #7323.

Interesting to see CSX on UP trackage. Wasn't expecting to see a Conrail unit back there either.

That's what I was thinking. UP isn't very keen on trackage rights or run-throughs out this way.

But apparently UP IS keen on using OTHER railroad's trackage cause I sometimes see UP units up here in Michigan.

I think it's a regional thing, and trackage rights really come out of a necessity for access to certain areas at certain times without justifying having build a whole new line. Out this way, that problem isn't there, so extras, run-throughs, and use of trackage rights isn't very common, though BNSF does have trackage rights on UP's Herington Sub out here.

Its probably headed for the east coast or the midwest I live in NS territory but CSX is not as uncommon as it is around there but more common than UP trains

Perhaps, but this was headed westbound, not eastbound. If anything, it may have been headed to an oil distribution center in Nebraska, since there are refineries on the Missouri side of Kansas City.
