Rainflower carried on. “Then he wouldn’t be the ugly mess he is now.” The icy coldness in hismother’s voice made Stormkit feel sick. “He’d still be my handsome young warrior.”
Note; that quote was said before the one I used in the pic. I just wanted to put it in for the feels.
I've been wanted to draw this scene for ages! And I love how it came out. Apart from the background. Sorry it's so crap I done it so lazily XD The dens look so retarded :T
Now I think everyone can agree that at this point Rainflower was being heartless and selfish. I don't think anyone could like her when she done this?? It really hit me in the feels when I read how mean she was to Crookedkit, and how she was willing to give up her mate just so she could have things her way. Shellheart is also crying a bit because he still loved her.. it was really sad. Freaking Rainflower, she had a pretty name but was so cruel to her own kit.

Hmm yeah, but I don't feel as if Millie was as cruel as Rainflower. I think she was just overwhelmed by Briarlight's injury. And when her other children complained it wasn't as worse as Briarlight's injury, it never would be. What she did was mean, but I still think she loved them all, perhaps not so equally.
Rainflower on the other hand, she literally disowned Stormkit. You're right, what she did was absolutely cruel. I think she's one of the worst mothers in Warriors history.

Yeah.. I feel like Rainflower was very immature. She loved Stormkit when he was her perfect "handsome little warrior" but she couldn't handle it when he broke his jaw. She couldn't see past his "imperfection". Or well, that's what I think. It was bad enough for her to feel that way to HER very own kit, let alone say it out loud with no sympathy where he heard. She literally disowned him.

Well in real life, all cats disowned their kits at some point. Like my cat Cutie, we kept one of her kittens. Sweetie was the one we kept, and he looks just like is mommy only a little bigger and a white diamond on his chest. >w< Every time Sweetie rubs up against her she bats his head and hisses at him. But they use to snuggle together and share tongues. OwO

Yeah, I get you. When they're old enough they leave and pretty much forget their relationship before. But they make the cats in the Warriors world have pretty human-like characteristics, which is why it makes it even more sad. And Stormkit was still a kitten, so she didn't have to let him become independent at that stage.
And cats in real life don't really "love". Most of the time toms are just attracted to she-cats when they're in heat XD So that's another thing that's more based on human characteristics.

Ya.. My kitten was in heat, she wasn't even old enough to mate yet, and a stray white tom tried to r*pe her. >:T It ended up Lily fighting him off. xD

the internet spoiled the scene that was kinda before this one so it didn't hit as hard. but this scene! this scene just shocked me!! Rainflower just rejected him! She didn't care that she lost her mate!! Stormkit needed love from his mother and she rejected him!! She doesn't even allow him to sleep with her and Oakkit!! He slept on his own!! I mean, IS SHE AFRAID OF HIM?!?! IS SHE AFRAID OF HER OWN SON?!?!?!

I know right! She probably was. From the way she acted before, nothing meant more to her than her 'handsome little warriors.' And when she saw what had happened to Stormkit, she probably couldn't live with it. She was immature in a sense, and she couldn't handle that her son had a permanently twisted jaw. Like in the books:
“The accident wasn’t my fault! I shouldn’t have to deal with it,” Rainflower spat. Stormkit’s chest tightened. A sob welled in his
throat.
She just... didn't want anyone to associate her with him when he was 'imperfect' in her sense. It was really horrible, I mean it was her own kit. But above all that, I still love the brotherly relationship between Oakkit and Crookedkit. <3

You know in a way the accident is kinda her fault for not watching them. If she saw them and stopped them then Crookedkit would still be Stormkit, her "handsome young warrior". Also, HOW IS SHE THE ONE WHO COULDN'T LIVE WITH STORMKIT'S JAW?!?! SHE WASN'T THE ONE WHO WAS PERMANENTLY DISFIGURED!!!! Oh and I agree, the brotherly relationship with Oakkit and Crookedkit is cute. Oakkit was always there for Crookedkit no matter what.

I guess that's just Rainflower's personality.. she couldn't handle it. Poor Shellheart tried to keep it reasonable but it was as far as he could go when she changed his name. He still lover her though, and so did Crookedkit, no matter how many times he was put down he was just seeking her approval. ono

.................Yeah Crookedkit always did love her. That's why he worked so hard. That's kinda why he trained in the Dark Forest. He wanted to be a strong warrior she would be proud to call her son. So once again, this is all kinda Rainflower's fault. If things were different, and by things I mainly mean Rainflower, Crookedstar would probably be Stormstar, leader of RiverClan.
