Interesting how dramatically expressions can change the mood of an image!

Wow.. U did amazing jobs again
The armor shape IS PERFECT! I love the gold color. Maybe a litlle bit highlight will make the armor shiny. Since it get ligh from sun, it should be shine ^^
And the ghost expression it nice. is she look at the knight or only stand there and look out the windows. Her eyes go trough the windows not see the Knight
Once again, this is amazing jobs ^^

Ah those golden things! I need to find references for metal... I don't know how to create shines that look to be coming from a curved golden surface.

Thank you for your feedback on this! I'm glad you like it.

I think everything looks really pretty nice!! I love the colors and the figures are amazingly done. XD *jealous*

That said, I think you are right about the woman's face needing a little bit more work.

I wasn't able to read an expression so well. From what I see, it's almost that she is half amused... and I think that's not what you meant. Well, wait, what ARE your goals for the woman's face and what expression would you like her to be making?

gppr In reply to syrellium [2009-11-17 14:28:49 +0000 UTC]

You know, she shouldn't be amused... but that's food for thought!

Thank you for your insight on this.

syrellium In reply to gppr [2009-11-18 13:01:06 +0000 UTC]

Looking at it again, I think it's the mouth that's betraying the look of being "amused". I wonder if I'm the only one who thinks that though...

I'm not sure, but you certainly made me think of how the meaning would completely change if she was!

Wow! This is amazing! The lighting is next-to flawless and the proportions are very accurate.

My only suggestion is to add a few reflections onto the chest plate. Compared to the rest of the armour pieces, it looks less realistic. The armour itself looks incredible - the chest plate just looks separated from the rest.

Full marks in my book!
Excellent Work!

Dan

Thank you for your encouraging and helpful feedback D! I had (still do) a lot of trouble with the shine on the armor. I haven't been able to find a good resource to shade metals that is not cartoon style...

Haha, those revisions! I know how that happens
But... omg, seriously, everytime it strikes me how much detail and effort you put into your art... That chainmail! The sword!
And I really love the bg you chose, it suits flawlessly

Thank you for commenting and faving! I'm glad I managed to pull that ghost off!

I submitted the original to a group (#GimmeFeedback ) that helps you with constructive feedback and one of the comments was that we couldn't see the reason for his posture and sadness. That got me thinking about giving the knight a backstory.

Another excitingly wonderful piece as usual!!!! Transparent. I can't do that !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amazing as always!!!!!

gppr In reply to Magz2015 [2009-11-16 14:31:01 +0000 UTC]

Thank you Maggie! Don't be sad, the transparency is actually pretty easy to achieve if you play with the layer's opacity. I make mine using two identical layers one in overlay (to 30%) and the other set to screen or hard light, depending on the colour of the background. Just play with it, and you'll be making transparent things in no time!

Magz2015 In reply to gppr [2009-11-16 19:30:05 +0000 UTC]

If I can get it to where I can understand it. I try to look up tutorials on layers, and they might as well be talking in french for all I can understand it.

I guess it can seem intimidating to face all the menus... but once you do it, it is quite simple, really. Maybe a video tutorial could work. Here is one that deals with the basics of layers [link] (It's very basic at the beginning but has useful stuff as it progresses). After that I found this one which deals more with the blending modes: [link]
Maybe you'll find this useful to start playing around with PS's features.

Would the video also work on GIMP, I don't have PS

gppr In reply to Magz2015 [2009-11-17 01:20:01 +0000 UTC]

Oh. I don't think this would work in GIMP. I have no idea how to use it. I'll look, tho.

Magz2015 In reply to gppr [2009-11-17 15:54:46 +0000 UTC]

I have been trying to find something on GIMP, but I can't find anything worth anything yet. Somehow, when I find something that the pictures show something that I MIGHT be able to follow, it turns out that I can't follow nothing. They show how one layer will color only the hair. Be all sloppy and messy and stuff, but it won't color on anypart of anything else.

It is so confusing.

Keep tinkering. I've learned most software by playing, making mistakes and doing it again.

I found this two videos that perhaps you can use. This one is basics on layers: [link] (its a little slow in the beginning but explains things from the basics) and this one, that seems quite similar to photoshop: [link]

Really great, I like the female in the background, though the knight seems a bit mix-and-match.

Thank you for your comment and for faving it EquinaSephine!

Yeah, I think you are right about the knight. I made it from my imagination so I guess it borrows elements that are not all matching... if I revise it in the future, I'll take care of that.
