Out of curiosity, what crossbow design were you using here? Also the Gnoll looks awesome!

Thanks for your interest! I didn't base the crossbow on any one design. I hoped a simple wooden stock would give it a medieval feel and the leather cover on the stirrup is a crude "stealth" feature.

In a much longer backstory, the hyena-like Slatha acquire crossbows from the jackal-like Tanabi. More powerful steel-sprung bows like these would normally be drawn with a lever or crank, but the Slatha can load them manually, giving them much faster rates of fire!

Ah, thank you for satisfying my interest then!

Your dark fantasy art is proving to be just as intriguing as your Scorched Earth universe!

Thanks! This pic wasn't so technically challenging, but it was fun to work on and I'm happy with the way it turned out. I've got a graphite sketch of a similar sword-armed character and I'll probably colour it some time soon.

Good to hear! I look forward to seeing more of your work... once I make myself look through all my deviations. ha ha

Thanks! This didn't take me very long but I'm pleased with the result. It's often the way with work I enjoy.

Oh my, you captured the image of the "Beastman" quite nicely here; in fact, your art style does a better job of it than that of classic "Fantasy" artists, well done.

Thanks! I was going for a more low-key, realistic look. Recent walks through the Tasmanian highlands (which gave me the backdrop of low clouds and lichen) and some good wildlife documentaries helped!

Out of everything in this piece, the most telling bit would have to be the facial expression. Nice job.
