Description Scenes from City Hall,London.

Never tested so many variations of a shot in my life as I have with this one, think I had 15+ of various tones and contrasts and slightly diff crops and I still didn`t manage to get it as good as I wanted too (was darker than it looks in there & couldn`t shift the final noise),but this is as close as I`m gonna get

Thanks for your support and looking, have a good one!

I'm sorry I'm so late to the party on your latest, Jonathan

I really like this and I think the editing is right on for the shot. It's really kind of stark and maybe a little harsh, but that's a good thing in this case because isn't 'security' a little stark and harsh?

I like the curvey lines of the walls as it leads you to the shadowy figure. There's something in that too as you really can't see who the person is. It brings to mind some questions about trusting what your eyes see or blind trust--faith in authority...I don't know. Anyway, I see it as something a little frightening. Probably not what you intended

Excellent capture, my friend!

No worries John,no matter how delayed the door`s always open for you Pal
I wanted a more direct contrast between the whites and the blacks but I simply couldn`t get it with the noise factor that was involved...I think I actually forgot to take my Polariser off in there and that`s probably why I struggled

No need for the frighteners btw,he was friendly enough...thanks John

Corvidae65 In reply to JonnyGoodboy [2009-05-12 14:35:16 +0000 UTC]

Could be--polarizers are a wonder to behold outside, but kind of a drag indoors, I've found

You're welcome, brother

There's no way that YOU can get a bad shot, Jonathan

The curves here are very cool, but the security man sitting at the end is captivating.

The position in which he is sitting shows that he is actually tired and bored. Not much to do, probably, and not much to see either. So being there, on that floor, day after day, with just a chair (which doesn't seem very comfortable) must be quite tedious. He sees the same week after week... and he must dream at night with that alley and those doors!

I for sure wouldn't like his job !!

Always a pleasure Darlin'.

Too bad you can't go everywhere. Knowing there's the perfect spot for a great shot and not being able to get there is like you have an itch you can't scratch. Drives you crazy. *lol*

It sucks... that you had to spend a lot of time on it but trust me it was worth it ( scared you at the beginning right ? )

Nah man , it's one great way to use lines and environment. The curvature and simplicity of the wall together with the spotlights above really funnel the attention towards the man. Poor guy looks like he's being squashed by boredom... the floor doesn't really help with the funneling part because of it's grid aspect .. makes it look quite vertical but id does balance out the white in the image.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

JonnyGoodboy In reply to Ironiada [2009-05-06 18:44:49 +0000 UTC]

Cheers Alex,I`m sure someone will say it in one of my shots for real one day
The floor is the weakest part of the image for me,I didn`t get much detial out of it and what there was as you can see is failry noisy
