Naked Snake and The Sorrow from Metal Gear Solid 3.
This was finished yesterday. It was done as a quick sketch on computer, just to get the image out of my head. But I've decided to refine it a bit. Don't know why I thought of doing this all of the sudden, but this is from one of my favorite scenes in the game. Since it was meant to be a sketch, I didn't look closely at my reference image of The Sorrow (should have, though), which is why he doesn't look like him. And sorry if this turns out dark on some computers.

i think i understand now why the Sorrow smiles and the Joy (Boss) doesn't. the Boss doesn't smile anymore because she killed the Sorrow, but the Sorrow is happy now that he has died. i mean think about it, he was severely depressed, wouldn't he want to die? and wouldn't he want to join the dead soldiers who he talks too in life?

You do have a good point. The Joy wasn't really joyful, and The Sorrow wasn't in Sorrow at death. You might be on to something.

This is completely stunning. Best Cobra ever, after The Fury and The End.
And I really think this is the best fanart ever about The Sorrow!

Oh my god. I love the Sorrow. And I love this! You've just drawn this so well, I can't get over it. Snd the colouring is gorgeous, too! <3 The faded background behind the sorrow, and his half-materialised, half-hidden form adds to the mysteriousness of it all. And I just love the texture of the water, too. Awesome job

wow, just everything about this is amazing!
The water looks good, the back ground with the trees looks awesome, and the two of them are just AWESOME! The Sorrow and The End are the best out of Cobra in my opinion.

I just finished it last week (And now I will forever associate the game with raisins since that was all I had to munch on -_-). I'd have to say that next to the fight with The End that it was my favorite "fight" of the game.
And I think you drew Sorrow pretty accurate considering.

I liked this part of the game.
It was scary and sad at the same time...
Believe me... I changed my playing method after Snake paid Sorrow a visit and tried to stab less soldiers.

Haha, I had a habit of using the tranq the first time so I didn't encounter many. I'd imagine it must have been scary traversing through a whole lot of them. Thanks for the fave, by the way.

It's a good piece since you made the dramatic feeling apear in the image.

Deffently one of the best parts of MGS3 for sure. I really love how you were able to make it feel so errie like in the game. And the way The Sorrow came looks great. Your trule captured the mood stright from the game. Amazing work.

Out of the 33 deviations that I had currently had waiting for comment - this one really attracted my attention. It's a very nice piece and I would never have guessed it was from a game.

The scene had a combination of fog, water and trees, a combination of favorite things that I love to see in a scenery. It was a really nice moment in the game.

Haha, that surprises a lot of people. Some of my guy friends think I'm only into RPGs (like the Final Fantasy series) or those cute Nintendo party games until they start hearing me talk about my PS2 games

We've got a PS3, but I really, really miss the PS2 games a lot! My son and I used to play games together (usually cooperative games) since he was about three. PS3 games are all about being online with others and it's almost impossible to find PS3 games that are cooperative. When you DO, they're STILL clearly aimed at the online crowd as we beat them after only about eight to ten hours of play. PS2 games used to take MONTHS to beat!

JudgeOfDeath In reply to Decarabia69 [2008-07-03 16:03:49 +0000 UTC]
Oh that's true. They're focusing on online a lot, most of the games are like that nowadays, probably just to compete with Xbox360. I know what you mean about having fun playing games together. I wish there were games from the Wii available on the PS3... Oh and I came across this upcoming game, that is cooperative and heard it's greatly anticipated by many. It's called "Little Big Planet": [link] If you want, you can also view some demo videos by the company on Youtube.
I think most PS3 games that can involve 2 players are sports or racing games. You can also buy Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix online. My cousin did because we used to play Puzzle Fighter II a lot on our PS2 (and PS).

Decarabia69 In reply to JudgeOfDeath [2008-07-04 14:17:21 +0000 UTC]
LittleBigPlanet sounds cool, and there definitely needs to be more cooperative games for the PS3. You're right about the majority of them being sports or racing games, but another genre is the first person shooter - it was novel when DOOM first came out, but it seems that nearly every single that's made it big is a FPS and all about war.
I'm also not a big fan of the Grand Theft Auto series - I know that most kids who are playing video games ARE NOT the ones car-jacking people on the street, but I think it couldn't hurt to put some empathy into the minds of some kids. I ruined the whole thing for my son (after he bought GTA III) by asking him how he would feel if someone dragged his mother out of our car to beat her, then stole the car. It wasn't quite so funny to play the game then.

Yep, I think they've only kept improving graphics for FPS. Crysis is supposedly the best FPS for PC out there with insane graphics that look realistic. The only FPS games that I own are the Medal of Honor box set and HalfLife. I normally get dizzy when playing FPS. And I haven't finished any of them. There's also fighting games, but I'm not sure if your son and you are into them. I prefer action adventure with 2 player, but you don't see much of those. But PS3 is pretty new so hopefully there will be more creative cooperative games like LittleBigPlanet in the future.
GTA is definitely not for kids or those who are immature. I do wish they have an option of not killing people. I think there are worse games, in this case, out there than GTA. Manhunt is an example.
