This is a variation to this photo: [link]In this particular photo, I used the natural lighting instead of a fill flash and changed the white balance. This is a male box turtle, commonly found in Oklahoma, but usually overlooked.

Looks like an Oklahoma Rain Turtle to me 
At least that's the story I cooked up after seeing many of these crossing the road--probably coincidental but they were shckingly accurate at predicting frog chockers

I have turtle for 19 years and i still don't know it's gender..

With this particular species, it has to do with their color markings. Males have orange/red while females have yellow markings. I don't know if it is the same with every species though...

I like this one's lighting more than the other one. Awesome shot. Did you move the turtle at all or did you leave it to it's business?

Haha! Well this particular shot was on the side of the road...however, before I took this picture, I actually was in the middle of the road...that was tricky to focus on what I was doing while listening and watching for incoming cars!
