Description
Finally it's done! Is a bit much, cause I explain there all steps when I make a mesh mod. Here it's Zexion from Kingdom Hearts. For the mesh mod I used model parts by
I hope this is helpful for you. Maybe only some parts of the tutorial. (I think my english is not the best here x3 )
The parts are:
- Seperate model parts in XnaLara
- Save Model with correct settings
- Import model in 3DS Max
- Edit Model in 3DS Max
- Export to generic_item.mesh.ascii
- Put models parts together
- Rename bone names
- Remove (hide) no needed bones
- Smooth the model
- Fix texture Problems
- Edit textures
- Make bumpmap (not all is explained, take a look at the links below) and lightmaps
- Edit render groups, shininess and textures in the mesh.ascii script

I'm a little confused. Do you actually model your characters?

For MeshMods I use already existing model parts and edit them if needed, to make a new model.

So you don't need to do any weight painting like you would have to do in blender? That Sounds too good to be true

Stunning tutorial.
About the Problem "Cannot seperate Hands and legs":
You can do it inside XNALara/XPS
1) Select the bone called "arm left wrist"
2) Toggle from "Rotate" mode to the "Scale" mode
3) Scale the Hand down to 0 %
4-6) Make the same with the right hand
7) Modify-->Save Generic_Item
8) Mark the option "modify armature according the current pose"
Of course ... your way works also fine.

Premium!
