My very own hand-held Death Ray!

I used an actual photo of weathered metal and applied it to the model. A little adjustment to get it to flow with the shape of the weapon. Then use the proper shader material to get the right sort of reflection. The rest was realistic lighting to show off the shape of the item.

The hardest part was making the vacuum tube!

The mood passed. Not really interested in anything like that now.

My creativity is highly dependent on my artistic mood. Which is also why I have a number of incomplete projects in a folder on my desktop. Sometimes I'll feel like going back to one and adding a detail, or building on an unfinished model or whatever suits me in that moment.
