Description This is partially for fun and partially because I need some fan art to put on my table at Animazement this year.

I'm not that happy with it, but hey. It's better than like any painting I've ever done ever. I'll probably go back and touch it up a little at some point. My favorite parts of the whole thing are the two monsters behind the TARDIS, the sky, and the interior of the TARDIS. In other words, everything that's not all that important. Pff.

I also feel like the Doctor looks a bit weird, though I can't really decide why. Hmmmmm. Also, I think the whole image is probably too dark.

Anyway, critiques welcome, as always. If I need to change something large, it probably won't get done, but small things and color/lighting tweaks I will do.

Oh my.
Now I know they have already done a planet of the dragons...but we need them to do something like THIS.
Overall:
(Ten looks fine, dearie. And so do the headlight-eyes monsters in the background thar)

WHOA, FOR SERIOUS? See? That's what I get for not watching the old series D: I just can't take the people in costumes seriously.

Thank you!

I am definitle y a "New Who" fan, mostly because I only heard of Doctor Who for the first time last May. And then it wasn't until late July or so that I started watching it. I got hooked pretty quickly though XD

New new Whovian?

I really liked Series 1 while it lasted, but as soon as Series 2 started I was all MAN THIS IS SO MUCH BETTER. And now I can't stand Series 1 (except for the Empty Child episodes). Still, I'm all caught up. I've watched all the off-season episodes, the "Children in Need" specials, and every Graham Norton Show, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, Comic Relief, and Friday Night Show episodes in which either Tennant or Smith appear.

And I have looked back quite a bit. There are some episodes I've seen upwards of five times.

Why yes, I am a fantard.

Yes, I guess so

Eccleston was good...but he was a bit..well, the same sort of character I've seen in everything other he's been in. Now, Tennant...half of my fan friends didn't even know he was actually Scottish, he does an Estuary accent so well.
Oh, yush, teh specials. Did you see that QI with Tennant on it. My god, that was funny. Alan Davies and him...epicness. I remember them talking about polygamy...

Old eps are good, but since they changed the episode format, classic eps are a lot more...long-winded. Hlaf the time I'm like 'wut.'

I could tell. But so am I. Welcome to the club

I've never seen anything else he's been in XD

Has he ever been Scottish while acting? He wasn't in Doctor Who (Well....He was for a bit in Tooth and Claw, but that doesn't count) and he wasn't in Harry Potter, I don't think he was in Casanova (or what ever that was). Oh wait, yeah, he was Scottish in Takin' the Asylum. Ever seen that? It's kinda cute actually. Anywho, Scottish accent = Plus 10 sexy points.

QI.... No, I haven't seen that. Will check it out.

Haha I might have to see how long I can put up with it, then.

Heh XD

Yes, in Hamlet (went and saw that. AWESOMENESS. I'm still peeved 'cos I didn't get my booklet cover -y'know, the ones they make you pay for at theater that are like £5- signed by him *sadface*
But..yes, the only other time I've seen him affect that Estuary accent was in Casanova...
Other stuff which rocks: Secret Smile [scary, since he plays like this creepy yet sexy kinda-psychopath...] Blackpool is good [he sings..badly XD]
...Ooh, and Traffic Warden...although no one speaks at all in that...xD
[yeah..I'm pretty obsessed...]
Oh yeah, Taking the Asylum..only seen a bit of that

You should indeed. Because then you can tell me just what he was wearing...

Pythosart In reply to wild-n-wintery [2011-01-16 22:39:35 +0000 UTC]

AWH Did you see it live?! I wish I could see him on stage D: I love plays almost as much as I love David Tennant.

Ooh, bummer. I'd be peeved, too.

Haven't seen Casanova, don't really care to. I have my precious image and I'd prefer that it didn't get shattered. I've read about Secret Smile on Netflix. I'd be interested to see how well he does evil psychopath. I got a leetle taste of it with Barty Crouch Jr., but he didn't show up enough for that, really. Heard of Blackpool, but never heard anything more than the name. Never heard of Traffic Warden XD

I saw some of it on YouTube, but I got bored pretty quickly because my internet decided to be dumb and take half an hour to load the video.

Oh god, what in the name of all that is real is he wearing?! He looks like he fell out of the '70s!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

"I love plays almost as much as I love David Tennant."
Hee. Heheheh. [yes, I did see it "live"]

Well, YEAH. Because then you get bragging rights, which would make my fan-relatives want to kill me.

'Precious image?' What's that then?
Oh his role as Bart Crouch Jr is just *precious* :"Hello fatha'! *snake/lizard tongue-thing*. Hee.
Traffic Warden is just a one time thing though, about 10 mins.

Oh. I try to watch more stuff with him in it but then get rolled eyes from eyeryone.
The Quartermass Experiment is really good too. If you like DW, you'll definitely like this.

Yeah, I know I just figured it might be a Scottish clothing kinda thing...but then I wasn't so sure...

Pythosart In reply to wild-n-wintery [2011-01-17 17:58:38 +0000 UTC]

What? I legitimately love going to see plays! Performance art is always fantastic, especially with good music.

Aah, bragging rights. Yes. I've had some minor bragging rights, but nothing quite that huge. My dad has a ticket signed by Jimmy Hendrix, though.

Ohh, I dunno. Barty Crouch Jr. is awesome, though. I wish we'd seen more of him in the HP movies. I don't remember if he shows up or not in the 7th book... Oh lol I have a friend who does the tongue thing sometimes while he's talking. It's a bit creepy, 'specially because I don't think he realizes he's doing it.

XD Really? My friends all know I'm a Whovian, so they've stopped caring, provided I don't fangasm at them.

Never heard of that either. It sure sounds sci-fi.

I haven't a clue. Red velvet suit, really?

ah, I wasn't laughing at you, per se, just...oh, never mind...

Awesome!

I don't recall Barty being in anything past the 4th book really
Ah...but I think everyone picks up a few mannerisms from their favourite characters like that...like a cousin who has unfortuantely picksed up the 10th Doctor's 'Eyebrow of Snark', as we have named it. Kinda...annoying, actually :/

Yeah...but just because they acknowledge it doesn't mean they put up with it, which is my problem D:

It is. Very much so.

Not sure. But then he dressed reaaaaally camp on that Catherine Tate Xmas special...Funny as hell but slightly freaky.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Pythosart In reply to wild-n-wintery [2011-01-17 19:23:05 +0000 UTC]

Nah, nah I get it. I know you weren't laughing at me XD

Pity, he's an interesting character. I wish we'd have been able to learn more about the Death Eaters individually. Funny thing is, my friend who does that does not like Harry Potter stuff at all, and is in general quite disdainful of it. I've picked up a couple of mannerisms from various things I like, mostly the Discworld and Doctor Who. I have a tendency to say "fantastic" a lot. Ah, the Eyebrow of Snark. Love the Eyebrow of Snark. I can see how that'd get annoying, though.

Very true, very true.

Haha I saw that XD Was that the one with Catherine as 'Nan'? Funny, I've been watching Catherine Tate Show stuff for the past two hours. It's amazing how she can be hilarious every time while still keeping the same script format.

Ohhhhh.....okay *facepalms*

Yess, he is indeed
I have a sort of friend who is actually the same! Then again...she sneers at everything and anything I like that she doesn't so ohwells D:
But fantastic...not many would pick up on that.
But friends and fans alike, we put up with each others' idiosyncrasies, don't we? I have a Twihard friend (I don't know how I put up with her constant swooning over RPatz...I just.. *do*) and a sister who's currently going through a Bieber fever phase (that is ..less tolerable, though Dx)

Yes, it was indeed. I know, she's amazing Her role as Donna...well, Donna became my favourite companion ever, namely because she was very good at dampening the Doctor's ego when he has a bout of superiority complex XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Pythosart In reply to wild-n-wintery [2011-01-17 23:29:34 +0000 UTC]

XD

Well, there's just no helping some people.
I'm not actively trying to make a reference, I just say it a lot.
One of my friends used to be a Twihard. I think she still is, though she claims to hate it. One of my other friends is a Lady GaGa fanatic, but everyone's cool with it because he's an awesome guy in general and it's sort of become part of his character. Everyone at my school knows him, and most of us refer to him as "GaGa" XD

Donna is among my favorites as well. She acts more like his mother than his friend sometimes XD Her "ego dampening powers" make for hilarious scenes. I love it when she hauls the Doctor off his high-horse. Plus, she does the best one-liners. Her dialogue with the Doctor is VERY quotable.

River Song and Amy are tied for favorite companion, though. They can both keep up with the Doctor's shenanigans much better than anyone else.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

wild-n-wintery In reply to Pythosart [2011-01-18 10:47:01 +0000 UTC]

I guess so D:
Oh no, not a born-again fan! They're just plain annoying. One minute it's like 'how can you watch that' and then the next they won't shut up about it
I suppose if they make their fandom part of their life without being totally annoying and kinda unique...that's cool

Heh, more his mother than his friend, never thought of it like that

I like River Song more than I did in series 4...mainly because I understand more about her character. There is a little something in her character that I find irritating...but then I think Alex Kingston is awesome XD
As for Amy...as above, still getting used to her character, really :/
I've got used to Eleven quicker than I associate with a companion, which...doesn't usually happen...hmmmm..

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Pythosart In reply to wild-n-wintery [2011-01-20 20:37:48 +0000 UTC]

Yeah. Actually, it's the other way around. She used to adore it, now she says she's always hated it. Go figure.

See what I mean though?

Same. She was cool in Series 4, but it was hard to see her as an actual character when she hadn't shown up before. It was nice going back to watch Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead, while knowing her character. She actually mentions the crash of the Byzantium (Where she sees Matt's Doctor for the first time) in those episodes, to boot.

Well, it was different with DT, because when he was new, we already knew Rose, and he was there all through Series 3 and 4, so we never really got the "new Doctor with new companion" thing. Eccleson had that, though, but I didn't feel it much because I started watching the show with the Ninth Doctor.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

wild-n-wintery In reply to Pythosart [2011-01-21 13:36:06 +0000 UTC]

Yep

Yeah. I'd like to get to know her character better, because online she seems to have lot of hate. Namely because what he and River are supposed to have, relationship-wise, goes against what he and Rose had. I understand how this might upset them...but she wasn't the only companion he ever loved. Take Romana, for instance. Awesomeness.

I suppose you have a point. I like Nine...but at the same time, wasn't sure. I think this probably had something to do with seeing DW for the first time in ever..but, like I said, I never looked back, and never will. I will keep watching it till it ends...whenever that may be.. XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Pythosart In reply to wild-n-wintery [2011-01-22 04:52:49 +0000 UTC]

Really? I haven't actually seen any River Song haters. Hm. Oh please, Doctor Who has been around for very nearly a half century, and the Doctor certainly didn't go that long without romance. That's how it works. Notice how Eleven hasn't mentioned any of his past companions even once? The Doctor has moved on. Don't forget Sarah Jane Smith! She was pretty much the best-known Doctor's companion in the days before New Who.

Yeah, sort of the same with me. Though I think I will look back eventually, just to see what Doctor Who used to be.

Oh my...well, then again, those particular forums are just hidden away sometimes.. [for the record...I'm not part of them]
Yeah. Even though romance and stuff was a long-standing taboo, until the writers decided to break it in the '90 telemovie, where the Eight kissed *gasp shock horror* Grace Holloway. And then it all went downhill from then. xD
Yeah..some have been complaining about his lack of past mention, but it's a good thing otherwise he be all emo like in series 3.
Yeah...Eleven was in a Sarah-Jane episode though...but, yes, I do not want them to forget her

Mmm, yeah. I can imagine that it'll change quite a bit, but hopefully not that much.

Sorry for the late reply D: Been busy.

Well, I don't pay much attention to forums, in any case XD I don't like spoiling things for myself, though sometimes it's just WAY too hard to resist "reading ahead", if you catch my drift.

I have yet to see anything with the Eighth Doctor. I think I'm scared of his hair or something stupid like that XD.

Yeah, I saw that! I don't usually watch the Sarah Jane Adentures, but I'd heard good things about that particular episode ("Death of the Doctor" or something like that), so I watched it. It was pretty good, if a little juvenile.

Nah, s'okay xD

I don't either...that was just the one time I really did. I never partake in forums...just laugh at all the moot point debates they happen to have... Hee.
Yeah. Spoilers Dx [but that's not a problem for me when DW is concerned, because I am a UK citizen, and therefore get to see the first airings...but I feel sorry for the rest of the world in this case.]

Heh. Well, his Jules Verne sort of fashion style is kinda...weird. But the Doctor has never had one iota of fashion sense anyways.

Juvenile...is a good word for it. Basically, the opposite of Torchwood.
[because the people wanted an adult version of Who...]

Pythosart In reply to wild-n-wintery [2011-01-30 23:00:31 +0000 UTC]

Haha I enjoy watching gaming forums for that reason. They say the stupidest things XD

Spoilers won't be a problem for me anymore. BBC America is releasing episodes on the same day they come out in the UK, which is really convenient, considering that 2011 will be my first full year as a Doctor Who fan.

I don't mind Jules Verne fashion, I just can't stand long hair on guys (in most cases). I think Ten (and Nine, somewhat) had some fashion sense, but that might just be me. Eleven certainly doesn't have a clue XD Even Amy agrees. Check it out --> [link]

Yeah, sort of. Actually, yes. In just about every way.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

wild-n-wintery In reply to Pythosart [2011-01-31 20:33:55 +0000 UTC]

Yep, exactly so xD

Hey, that's good. I wasn't sure how far behind US was in getting the episodes at first... That is convenient, know you don't have to complain about us on the interwebs because of spoilers.. xD

Yeah. Long hair for me...idk. I can't stand facial hair though D:
Heh, I loved how when Ten came along people were like 'finally, fashion sense' and I'm thinking 'Dude. SUIT with TRAINERS. Are you kidding?'
Aha. That's good, that clip.

Hee. [though I don't watch TW...I find it too..one-track, if you get my drift...]

TENNANT!!!

His jawline looks a bit funny here but still easy to recognise. Maybe you think it seems odd because he's in a plain cartoony way and the monsters lean more towards fine art?

Either way this rocks.

It's quite simply because you don't often attempt people, he looks fine. If you want to try anything, make his jawline a little more noticeable, otherwise, it is a very good smoothly painted pic, And I also love the monsters behind the TARDIS, they're so awesome because they're in silhouette.

Yeah, that one's awesomely creeptastic. It's one of the scarier episodes for sure. Also, it's in Series 1, which means I automatically like it less than any of the other series. It is my favorite episode with the Ninth Doctor, though. I still like the Tenth and Eleventh Doctors more. The one in the pic is Ten.

KatePfeilschiefter [2011-01-11 23:32:24 +0000 UTC]

It may be because his body is looks too cylindrical, there's not much definition of form, though that's partly the fault of how everything is in silhouette. It looks cool, but it diminishes detail. Also, I can't tell on which foot he's supporting his weight on. It looks like he's using his right foot (from the viewers perspective), but if that's the case their should be more of a curve or angle in his body, and his other leg shouldn't look as long as it seems.
