Thanks very much.
I scan and save my images at various stages of their completion.Β I scanned the pencils for this dragon, then printed them out on another piece of paper.Β The original version got color without ink.Β This version I inked and scanned for a coloring book, then went on with a different color scheme.Β So this *is* real art that can hang on a wall.Β I used colored pencils for all the color.

Poor dragon is going to get all tangled up xDΒ
I like the consistency of the pattern.

Thanks!
LOL - Yes, this whole series of dragons is very tangled. Β I enjoy the challenge of drawing and coloring designs like these.

Ikr! Its more calming process than anything atleast it was for me. If you do that well then you can move to pretty good fur textures and other textures that is just outside to patterns.
Where I'm getting jobs there is an entire job section for just texturing in games.Β
The challenge is not getting confused or straying off cuz dear lord look at that. xD
And knowing when to stop before breaking fingers is another challenge.
I think its part why I moved to main digital media. I recommend it if you havent tried it already. Paint tool SAI would be really good for this type of work.
You could also save lots of hours on certain patterns and filling base colors, blending etc. That way you have time for extra shading and highlighting to make itΒ
"pop" even more.
Anyhow, beautiful work. I hope it keeps improving and evolving.

Heh. Β I do some digital work; mostly it's for the clean-up process for my line drawings right now, but I occasionally color things. Β I miss the feel of the real mediums, though. Β I like the textures of colored pencils. Β I like the accidents that I turn into features with watercolor. Β I like mixing things up to make messy, cool backgrounds. Β Most of all, I like having a real, physical object that I can hang on the wall when I'm finished. Β Sure, I can print out digital artwork. Β But I'm old school; I trained in the old school techniques, and I still enjoy using real mediums more than anything else. Β I will just sit back and admire the lovely digital works that the digital masters can do, and I'll keep on making a big mess in my studio. Β

you really outdid yourself on this one, you know that right? Have you sold the original yet? It's just magnificent. Those colors are the perfect combination and in the right order, on top of your classic amazing line art.

Thanks very much! Β Color experimentation is LUV.
I sold the first version of this quite a while back - at its first or second convention showing, I think. Β This new color variation is still in my possession; I haven't had a chance to mat it just yet, though. Β I'll get that done in the next couple of weeks. Β

Thanks very much!
I actually refrained from adding extra sparkles, metallics, glitter, etc. Β The only additional thing besides ink and colored pencil is that white crystal doodad near his hands.
