...to walk amongst the living once more."Ah Kikyou. Such the poor, tragic miko. Miko is priestess. Anybody who knows Inuyasha knows this poor woman's very very sad story. Kikyou is usually shown as being emotionless and cold throughout the anime, except for when she meets up with Inuyasha or when she shows care to anybody in particular such as people who need her help, or children. A few times that come to mind are when she's with Suikotsu and when she saved Saint Hakushin's soul. The woman truly is filled with kindness and the desire to help people, certainly but behind Kikyou's cold exterior her eyes always look so sad. You rarely ever see her smile and when she does, it's very fleeting but so lovely. Here I'm trying to portray her pain... the pain Kikyou feels at being forced back into the world of the living as she was and longing to be alive and not just a body made of holy bones and graveyard soil. The ache of longing to be a warm body made of flesh blood, her yearning for life knowing she can't live the life of a ordinary woman like she has so longed to and knowing that her death is near. I had so much fun painting her shinidamachuu (or soul collector...whatever you prefer to call them) and it was actually kind of tough as well! As you can see, I decided to soft shade this image as I felt it would give it a more gentle atmosphere as well as capture Kikyou's sorrow. So yeah, here you go. The lovely miko, vulnerable and expressing her pain. Enjoy!

I know. I feel so sorry for her. She really is a very misunderstood and wrongly hated character in the series. Unfortunately, there are just some people out there who you can't change their opinions.

I wouldn't want to try to change another person's opinion. It's none of my business who they like or dislike. But some people can be just downright RUDE!!! There are even some Koga-loving-Inuyasha-hating people out there who are total trolls. I'm not going to name names, but you may have seen one on YouTube. Hints: Bad spelling, very rude, swears a lot... If you go on YouTube a lot, you're sure to run into her comments at least once.

Yuck! I think everyone's heard of her. She makes her presence known. She has a friend named Celine, who is clearly the brains of the two. Has Kagomeluvskoga bothered you personally, or have you just read her comments?

Truthfully, people who act like that have no brains if you ask me. And no, never has bothered me personally but has picked on friends in the past which got me good and irritated. I just chose to stay out of it. I don't like wasting my time on stupidity.

Neither of them are very smart, but Celine is the smarter of the two. At least she can (kind of) spell. Zoey (kagomeluvskoga) almost has her own language. I can never undertsand what she's even saying! But she does make it pretty obvious that she's not Inuyasha's #1 fan.

So true. Though, there are some trolls who don't know they're trolls, and actually get offended when people attack them. I know of one, but I don't want to name her. She's a passionate Kagome-hater. However, I'm starting to think SHE'S more the victim. She says she hates Kagome, but then admitted to the fact that she had a "friend" who hated Kagome, and that "friend" said that she would hate her if she did not share her opinion. A person named Shippolovergirl said to her that if this person said she'd hate her if she didn't share her opinion, then she isn't a very good friend. I'm not sure if the said "troll" responded yet.

I agree. She was such a sad character and I can't stand it when people bash her. I love her. I also like the idea of Kikyo and Inuyasha. Don't get me wrong, I do like Kagome and Inuyasha too but I just like Kikyo more.

Yeah she was. I don't really like the idea of Kikyou and Inuyasha. Maybe before Kikyou died and before Kagome, but now it wouldn't have worked out. D= I prefer Inuyasha and Kagome, but Kikyou is still my favorite.

It's cute, but not a well executed illustration. The night sky is the background is lovely, but the character in the foreground could use much work. Kikyo's body is slightly disproportionate with the head being larger than the rest of the body.
The hair is nice, but lack any dynamic shading. The lighting is inconsistent and the "standard anime face" takes away from the real beauty you could have given Kikyo. Try to work on the things I mentioned to improve your artwork.

You draw her so well and it looks very lovely. I truly understand Kikyo's pain. I'm glad the series is brought back on air but it's fast paced. I can't wait for next week's episode however at the same time next week's episode will be heart breaking.

I always felt sad for her because of the events surrounding her death and the feelings she has because of it. The tears were a nice touch

Yeah he did, but that was in the very beginning of the story before Kagome ever existed or came into the picture. Kikyou died but she was resurrected with a body made of holy bones and graveyard soil. She dies later on the in manga again. She's gone and not coming back this time around.

You potrayed her beautifully, although it's bittersweet she does looks very lovely. I hope others will eventually get to understand more about her. People say she's mean and cold, but unless you fully understand what it's like to be on that other person's foot, then you have no right to assume anything and judge so quick.It happens too much today in society, and most people are guilty of it, including me.
I don't blame Kikyo at all, if i was her, I wouldn't exactly be all happy either; to be forced back into the living, being forced to see the man u onced loved who you thought betrayed you and not to mention seeing him slowly fall for your own reincarnate. That in itself is throwing salt into a wound, over and over
In the end, I'm glad she found peace, dying as an oridinary woman.

Yeah, it took me a lil while..only cuz i just started reading the whole manga last year, but as u get older, u tend to realize certain things that u didnt notice or comprehend when u were younger

I never really liked Kikyo when reading the manga, but when they reached the point where she died a few books ago... that was so sad! T_T
(lol yes, here in Finland we haven't reached the end of the manga yet xD Next book will come out any day now! 8DD)
Anyway, this is a very beautiful drawing of Kikyo. Well done, you caught the emotion very well on her usually very emotionless face.
