I can't seem to get the dodge tool and the burn tool to work out :/ So I'm ending up with an eye that has both colors, but no dark ring around the iris/lashes and no highlight around the pupil. I just get places of gray. Should I have set the layer back to normal, or am I doing something wrong?
Just for reference, I'm using Adobe Photohop CS3.
Thanks for this tutorial anyway!

i did.
like seven times.

lovelikeangels In reply to Sugargrl14 [2008-04-27 20:08:05 +0000 UTC]
it's okay.
it's just frusterating because the part where the eye's supposed to be getting highlighted and become lighter, the burn tool seems to be wiping away the color and making it back to the original color of the eye.

Which layer are you using the burn tool on?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
lovelikeangels In reply to Sugargrl14 [2008-04-27 20:21:26 +0000 UTC]
....well there's the original layer, and the one layer that you said to create in the beginning. were there supposed to be more? because i only worked on the new layer.

When you finish coloring it, go back to the original layer, and then use the burn and dodge tool :3 hope that helps!

How do you get it so the detail of the eye is on top, but you still see the color you're adding?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Sugargrl14 In reply to bluedrgnMethy [2008-04-26 15:23:28 +0000 UTC]
On the mew layer, you have to set it to 'color' so you can still keep the detail :3 hope that helps!
