I mostly strive to make interfaces smaller in file size without sacrificing quality

Most excellent, my friend! I checked out the link to his/her(?) page, and read your comments there...and bookmarked Simpleviewer, as I'm gearing up to finally get a decent website together, instead of just using Pbase as a catch-all... So thanks for the inspiration--and the tips, too!

Thanks for the comment and the
With all your photos you are going to need simpleviewer
I love the fact that it pre-loads all larger photos in the background while viewers are still viewing the photos so it's quicker then waiting for each image to load as most XML loaders do. Are you designing your own site?

You are most welcome--you provided some really useful info, and a cool effect!
Yeah, I noticed it was doing that...it seemed very efficient!
And yes, theoretically, I AM designing my own site!
That is...this is the year I'm determined to start making some money off of my work, instead of it simply being a highly rewarding money pit...so I'm doing up marketing materials, and a new website. (Or rather *A* website, since Pbase has never really been meant to be anything other than a placeholder--just somewhere I could toss images up until I I got around to actually doing the work on website I've been imagining for the last...er...several years now. )
I've got a lot of ideas about what I do and don't want...but, well, you know how it is--getting yourself to jump in and do something that you know is going to be a heck of a lot of work! It takes time to work up to it!
(And, I REFUSE to use a template--I just think they're too full of silly, unnecessary features--and, for the most part, are rather lacking in good aesthetics. Or aesthetics that suit my purposes, anyway...which means I've got to come up with a design that will please ME--and I'm one snooty customer, let me tell you!!! I just spent three entire days of my vacation just doing the BACK of my business card!!!) (Looks good, though!
Front: [link] Back: [link] Printed it out today, and I have a few changes to make in terms of proportion and contrast--but otherwise, I'm finally happy with it. That's ONE down, anyway!

I like your card but the back design could be kicked up slightly in contrast since the light green on green is a bit hard to make out easy IMO. I LOVE the quality/price of the cards I ordered from www.printsmadeeasy.com
As far as templates go I understand, most have more bells/whistles then needed and the file size is typically 500+kb. However you design it I'd go with Flash personally since it's the best for displaying photos and compatible with most OS/browsers.
Great link to more FREE flash based galleries www.flashimagegallery.com is pretty cool for two reasons. First it can display "part" of your image which the user can scroll around on which helps keep people from stealing your work but still displays high detail and second it comes with a admin login script to upload/change your photos from anywhere via a web based bowser.

You are quite correct, about the contrast. I asked =jmonzani for a critique just before this--and that's pretty much what he said, as well. I want the background design to be subtle...but not so subtle you miss it completely!
And I'll check out PrintsMadeEasy--thanks!
Wow--that FlashImageGallery is AMAZING!!!! And the link to SmashingMagazine.com is terrifict, too! I may have to rethink my views on using Flash in a website--because these actually look very user-friendly, and easy to integrate... Hmmm... (Oh wait--I'm still doing DESIGN work...not the technical stuff! Well--I'm saving these for when I get to the technical part of my site! THANKS!!!

Well, it may be a long time. My work has taken a back seat to my family. I spend a lot of time with my son. Once I get the demo reel ready.. then I'll figure out what to do for the site. Sorry about taking so long man.

Looks even better now.
I think this smooth hover effect give it a better and more realistic touch.
Good work on the buttons
