Thankyou those crowns are fantastic and are used for many different situations, and produce many different shapes,the one on the right reminds me of a butterfly.

yes wonderfull birds especially with the wonderfull feathers and plumage. they create the most
beautiful shapes and postures.

yeah I think the most stiking water fowls we have here are the great Blue Herons, we don't even have swans here lol. I will say I love the loons tho, but you only hear them out in the country I won;t hear them much if at all here in the city one of few things I will miss about living in the country in the summer and the owl I would hear outside...

Haha The Common Loon, I guess they are only in North America, beautiful large birds with a haunting and silly voice.

Cheers for the pics, well we don't have your loons but two species very similar indeed. the Black-throated diver
and red throated diver. i have never seen them as they are quite rare and only in Scotland and along our coast lines.
shame rspb doesn't have the sounds!!!!!

at recognising our bird calls to i've began to notice, not just the behaviour.

Thanks yes these are from a mating ritual. I've seen plenty of head dancing over the years but never the
the walking on water part, where they present weed to each other.A beautiful spectacle.
