Well, here we are, onto my second request completed in this request series. This one comes by way of member, who asked to see one of his main OCs, Genki Tamashii, drawn in Danny Phantom-style. I have to admit, the point of this request was almost lost on me, as the pic I used as a reference was almost DP-style in itself. Nevertheless, it was a request and I felt it was only fair to honor it.

I have to admit, there were two parts of this pic that were particularly challenging. One was the face (which I had to design from scratch) because when it comes to drawing male characters in the Danny Phantom-style, there really is one cardinal rule (a rule that I find a lot of people don't follow all that much)...

DON'T...MAKE...HIM...LOOK...LIKE...DANNY!!!

Of course, the other element to this equation was the fact that this character is obviously Asian and DP doesn't have a lot of exposure to Asian characters...except for Kwan. So I simply drew him with Kwan eyes and a thin face.

The other challenging part was the belt buckle he wears. Considering the scale I was drawing at, I pretty much had to admit that I was licked and simply copied and pasted the buckle from the original picture. A procedure which worked out perfectly fine. But beyond that, I felt that everything else pretty much fell right into place, especially considering that I PS-ed in the highlights from scratch. It wasn't until after I scanned the pencil work that I realized I hadn't drawn the outlines of the highlights in (and I was simply too lazy to put them in and re-scan). So I simply added them in with the hard lines and color. An approach which also turned out quite well.

But enough of my blathering on. , this one's for you. Hope you like what you see and I hope everyone else does, too.
