Brilliant

Haha, Some of the simpilest things can be beautiful.

I wonder if a Bird flew into that any.

Wilby3000 In reply to DefiedLogic [2004-07-02 22:03:20 +0000 UTC]

Nope, no birds flew into it because I was twitching around it like a madman... Don't ask. I go crazy when I shoot stuff. I scared a flock of gulls away from the field. I felt kind of guilty about that though.

Thanks for the comment!

cool. If it weren't for the shadow, it would look like a square was sliced out of the land. ''oh look mum, we can go skydiving!'' nicely done!

great idea
you didn't edit this at all?
i find that hard to believe
the hard light from the right side leaves a great shadow, but how is the front of the picture lit?
there's no shadow for that?

Thank you for the comment. I did remove a stone's shadow from behind the mirror but that's all I "maniped".

some very impressive work, i must say. always interesting to see the more conceptual pieces of work that are displayed here, in my opinion there aren't enough of them. i think it's interesting to note how many people are questioning whether it's a real mirror or not and suggesting ways to make it seem less 'fake' than it may appear...

i shall look out for further prints in the series, it looks like it may prove to be quite a good one

Wilby3000 In reply to thedreamlord [2004-07-02 22:09:11 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, it was fun to read all the comments where people screamed "manipulation" at me. Thank you for your comment, I apologize for the late reply, for I've been out of town for a few days and this DD caught me by surprise. I hope you enjoyed the rest of the series even though they were all quite different.

kieguru [2004-06-30 19:19:07 +0000 UTC]

very nice! i don't no if this was intended, but if you look to the left of the cloud in the mirror, it looks as if the cloud is carrying on in the grass of the field. i praise you!

Wilby3000 In reply to kieguru [2004-07-02 22:20:07 +0000 UTC]

Actually, I didn't notice that the cloud extended on the grass' form. Looks cool! Thank you for the comment.

To me it's a great idea and concept, but it is nothing i would drop my jaw on. How did you get the mirror to have no glare on it if the sun was positioned off to the side..wouldn't it reflect a bit from the glass? I'm not sure i really follow this too well..and i'm sorry..but that is where i stand on it. It has beautiful depth and sharpness though..so nothing wrong with the quality.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Wilby3000 In reply to xgenesisx [2004-07-02 22:15:57 +0000 UTC]

The only manipulation is the removal of a shadow from the stone that was holding the mirror up. Everything else is purely mechanical placement and simple shooting. The sun didn't reflect because the mirror was slightly tilted on the side and upright... No need to drop jaws. I don't even like this photo all that much.

Thanks for commenting.

i'm really sorry about that previous comment i made..i was having one hell of a day that day and i just took it out on all the wrong people. I don't want you to think i'm a terrible person or anything. It's a good set up though..the whole serie..i just looked at them. You are very clever in originality..not saying mirrors have never been used before..but it's your own style. Nonetheless i appologise and congradulate you on the over all photo itself :]

This is absolutely gorgeous and well-deserving of a daily deviation. You look at the expanse of green field and then your eye is drawn to the clouds in the mirror, and then you get this overwhelming sense of inferiority, because the grass and the sky are so much bigger than you could ever be. I love the tone and the mood of the piece. Excellent work.

Now, that's beyond cool, and , but I'm wodering...was there any Photoshop-ing involved? Cuz...well, it just looks too clean. Buh.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Wilby3000 In reply to flarion [2004-07-02 21:23:10 +0000 UTC]

I cleaned the shadow because I had a stone holding the mirror up and the stone's shadow looked stupid. Otherwise it's a pure photograph. I did clean up the surroundings from litter, sticks, and leaves though. All in all, this one took me quite a while to do...

Thank you for the fave!

Vaalin [2004-06-30 18:37:23 +0000 UTC]

It is very unique, although I had to read through the comments to figure out what it was supposed to be. When I first looked at it, it looked like a picture of a field that had a cropped picture of a cloudy sky pasted on top of it. And your description didnt say much about it.. so I was like... whaaa? But.. now I get it. Its pretty surreal looking.

Wilby3000 In reply to Vaalin [2004-07-02 23:57:43 +0000 UTC]

It seems there's a lot of confusion on the reality of this photo... Maybe I'll post the original rough copy of it to prove the disbelievers. Bah! I'm too lazy for that. Thank you for commenting, mate!

Neat idea, but I would try adding a border on the mirro/image or the clouds so it would feel moe like a "platform" rather a image stuck on there.

thedreamlord In reply to vaeku [2004-06-30 19:04:18 +0000 UTC]

it's a mirror standing in a field...

the reflection is the sky.

Look beyond the frame of the photograph. Way beyond. - hesitation

Bah! I hate the fact that people love my photography more than my art work... I've never taken photography seriously, it's just fun for me... Fuck it. What can you do?

I hope I won't get stormed by some fucking anime "artists" going "your work is cooooooooooooool" and "I'll devwatch you if you'll devwatch me, please look at my gallery"... Argh!! I'm already losing my fucking mind answering these fucking idiot comments about "the reality" of my picture. If the category is photography, then it usually means it's not fucking manipulated... I mean it's pretty obvious... Isn't it?!!? Shitheads.

I'm glad I still have you telling me when you think my photo is shit but you like the description...

But nah, I'll try to keep it as real as I can.
