A very clever usage of props that highlights a strong message. The composition is great, though I think the edges could have done with a little more light - given the angle and where you probably took the photo that probably would have been a hard task to do mind. The sign itself seems pretty yellow - was that maybe the white balance getting thrown a little?
Anyways, I'm nitpicking - it's an excellent photo and one to be proud of!

Actually the yellow is pretty close to the real colour of the sign. It just has a bit of contrasting. I isolated the sign from the ground and got rid of yellow tones. Actually I spent quite a long time with this photograph and I did a whole bunch of tweaking. The photo itself is pretty old, so I can't remember all the editing I did... Actually, I sort of like the dark edges but indeed it would've been a hard task to make them lighter without cropping.

Yeah - having another look at it it looks more like reflected light from a street light. There is a possibility that you could re-gain a little more detail using the clarify tool in PSP for instance, but then again you probably don't want to start fiddling about with the photo more than you have to - plus all of this is a matter of personal taste. I love the photo but probably would have tried to make it a little bluer and brighter - that's not to say that that's the right thing to do. The main point is you are happy with it and have had a lot of support from the community too.
I think you did a really great job with the photo - I hope you haven't taken any of what I've said as a negative comment - I think you've done a great job and have - like many others, taken a great interest in it.

This is really an awseome piece. Along with your question it really makes a person think. I love work that does that.
In my opinion of answering your question i think that it IS the individuals lack of responsibility but to only a certain extent.. you can only blame the person for so much. It is there fault that they were driving while intoxicated in soem way. But the selfishness of themselves goes beyond that. because selfish is a characteristic of a person and we gain characteristics such as that from how we are raised, the poeple we grow up with, the enviroment we were in. But that goes on for generations and generations. Its one of the worlds many conformities... We cant avoid theses thnigs..sadly.

*applauds you* This is such a serious subject, but it seems not ENOUGH emphasis is put onto it. A few years ago, I saw a slideshow that went around in email showing before and after pictures of a girl who was in a car crash. I don't remember WHICH driver was under the influence, but I assure you, those pics spoke for themselves.
Your photo is amazing. It's composed in a way where you really have to pay attention to the little details to understand the whole...plus, it's that time of year again, so
