Description
When in doubt - cover the badly drawn hand with a flowerworks every time, i promise, otherwise you get your money back and a free small child
Well, anyway, I hope this helps anyone who was wondering how I color (err, if anyone was wondering how I color), and make sure you ask me anything you're unsure of and send me your pictures if you use it!!
The character I'm drawing is Miku from Vocaloid.

I've never used copics before, (I use ProMarkers, the less expencive version,) but I found out a local stationary store near me sells them. Anyways, what I'm getting at is that this was helpful! I like your blood technique, sweet stuff!

I apologize if this is annoying for asking *full view is blurry* but on step 7 how did you make the lighting on her skirt after you applied the black coloring?

The black is just shading, so maybe the lighting is just the color i used before?

i use it because it doesn't bleed or take away the colors like some good quality papers do, and because i'm poor!

Though a few pointers- Remember to follow a lightsource, and highlight more sparingly. Not everything has a highlight lol

Ohshi- I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to come off as insulting! D: I'm sure you gallery looks great, but in my opinion shine all the time is rather boring to look at- I wouldn't take a second glance at a gallery like that. (Though I'm in no way saying the art itself is BAD, it's just not my cup of tea) I happen to like earthy colors, just like you happen to like shiny things. Is this a bad thing? Nope /o/ And green makes a really good neutral background color since I normally don't use it on the characters themselves, and I want them to stand out without having the background white or gray C:

While mine looks more true to life, which is what I intend with my art. Anime with a realistic twist \o/ (Why does everyone grab the picture I drew for my friend ;3; I've got other chibi's in my gallery)

Ok, i'm gonna have to just say, i don't take well to being criticised by people way under my skill level. Can you please, PLEASE take your own advice before trying to enforce it on me? You've got one character drawn over and over again in a clashing color scheme in your gallery. I did look through it by the way, and I am going to have to conclude that you have no basic concept of anatomy, color, shading or lighting, and that your style is very generic and that of every other western anime fan who wants to try out drawing. You need to take a life drawing class, because i've looked through your gallery and you really haven't improved, you also need to try making your coloring smoother if you're not doing cell shading because it clashes, and badly.
You say my artwork is 'rather unpleasant to look at', which does not explain why i get at least 20 favorites before I submit anything to a group, and you get about 3? The public have spoken C:
You say your art is true to life, anime with a realistic twist? Please, look at a real person before saying that because there is nothing that defines your style from every other 16 year old weeaboo's on deviantart. I've been to one of the best known art schools in Australia on a scholarship, both my parents are artists, and I've attended life drawing classes. Yeah, don't talk to me about your style being 'true to life'. It's not. It is so far from it, unless you're under the mistaken impression that by making your characters bland and dull it makes them realistic.

I normally don't draw that character as much as I have been, and I've been working on other art that doesn't involve her, though I can't post one because I don't have permission from the commissioner yet. (Plus she's incredibly boring to draw truthfully- I drew her way too much when I was younger :/ )
LOL I have no basic concept of anatomy, color, shading, etc? Obviously you're just looking at my chibis and old art (oh wait, you couldn't be looking at my old art since I "haven't improved"). Because I actually have a decent sense of anatomy (Of course I could be a lot better, everyone could be.), decent sense of color (I happen to like odd color combination's, shoot me.), and if you haven't notice, I can follow a lightsource. (I need to work on reflected light though)

You're just too pissed at me to notice this fact XD As for my coloring- Oh god I hate it so much. I've been trying to find a good style for AGES. Still searching for one. Considering as I don't like generic anime coloring style- It's /everywhere/ and boring. So I'll have to agree with you there. Though you can't say much because you could work on yours as well.
You get those because you draw tits, sex appeal, and fanart. Not because you're "spectacular". Me? I don't draw any of those things, so of course I don't get as many favorites. That's dA logic for you.
Oh goody, you went to art school~! Does that mean you're any better then me? Nope! I happen to look at real people all the time. I use myself for reference a lot, as well as my friends. It's how I mostly learned to draw. Yes I could still improve. But hey, as you said, I'm still only 16. I've got the rest of my life to improve <3

um, lol! he's obviously a way better artist than you, every one of your pictures are flat and dull, and can you point out where this "realistic twist" occurs? and as for fanart, there are what, 4? yeah ok cool, that must be where he gets the pageviews from... but what about all the favourites on the hundreds of OCs in there as well? it's great that you're trying to be all helpful with your criticism, but it doesn't count if you draw way worse AND blatantly call it bad... i don't even know what else i can say, this isn't even fun to read through anymore, you're an idiot

i'm 18, and yeah she was being rude, precocious and condescending. it kind of bugged me that she kept pushing it when she was so in the wrong! i can see you're trying to defend a friend here but learn when to quit... also speaking of learning, what do i need to learn with typing? i'm happy for some constructive criticism!

She wasn't being rude in all honestly. One comment she made might've seemed rude, and that's what started this "fiasco". Had XXAnemia not overreacted, none of this would've happened.
And just exactly how was she in any way in the wrong? She gave some constructive criticism and she got bashed for it. She was polite in all honesty. If there's anyone in the wrong, it would me you and XXAnemia.
And I do know when to quit, but I know that my friend had no hurtful intentions when she gave criticism. I'm simply standing up for her because she's getting bashed though she did nothing wrong.
As for the typing-
Typing as you did/do makes you appear to have the education of that of a 10 year old.
So if you want to be thought of as eighteen, maybe you should use that education of yours as well as realize that you're wrong.
