Description Dont know about you , but I am boycotting SW , until the day  they start making good movies again .
I really didnt liked  The last jedi .
And as someone that is following SW since 1977 , yes , I am a fan of the original trilogy the way it was .
If you like the new SW , good for you .
BUT , That is not for me or my generation anymore .

I will be here building my model kits of the original trilogy , drawing my toon girls , and keep listening to Mauler , Worldsclassbulshiters , and geeks and gamers .

May The Force be With You .

Assuming you are of the same age and time frame as me, I agree the last one was a commercially successful film but not necessarily a fan pleaser. I did like the pogues (or whatever they call those little birds 🐦) especially when they gave Chewbacca a guilt trip over roasting a couple for dinner. But otherwise, not a good film for the franchise. That last scene of the kid did portend there a future for the SW franchise but my attitude is to really wait and see.

May you continue to draw and May you live long and prosper 🖖

(wow, there was an emoji for that last one ☝️Cool 😎😎😊)

The Last Jedi, while I did like it, has a little to much SJW in it and captain miss purple hair was the worst part of it. It addressed great moral bits between Luke, Rey and Ben while also addressing the casino city and the real world idea of weapons makers selling to both sides to maximize their profits and keep the war going...

But miss stupid purple and her slow as balls ship dragged the movie on longer then it should of.

I liked the addition of Rose, she was cute and spunky and it makes sense to give Finn a new buddy since Poe will be busy on missions and stuff, can't say her saving Finn towards the end was a good idea, it ruined a really well paced sacrifice that should of been his big moment as a character.

But miss stupid purple retard hair got more people killed them saved and yet she's a hero for it. And while light speeding through the other ship was super cool it fundamentally broke the logic of Star Wars cause now you just wanted why they didn't just do that to the Star Killer or the Death Star way back.

They should of just had J J Abrams do the second film instead of bringing on a director that hated what Abrams did in Force Awakens.

Oh god, unpopular opinion i will admit, but when Force Awakens i gave it the benefit of the doubt.  I said, "well maybe they will address these plotholes in the second movie, after all that's how good trilogies can be made is if you leave these questions open and have some of them slowly revealed in the next movie", but they really did screw the series over in the next movie.

When they allowed Ford to kill Solo they killed Star Wars for me, so I wasn't even going to bother with this movie at all.
Disney should let Mr.Lucas and Mark Hamill reboot the entire Star Wars again without Ford since he hates the franchise so much.

I'm not boycotting Star Wars, but I will say that my level of interest in the franchise has never been lower. Of the three films in the works right now, I have no desire to see any of them. Not even a little bit out of curiosity. The only thing that could spur my interest in this franchise is a ten year hiatus and a soft reboot, neither of which the Mouse has any interest in. But as you said, perhaps these movies just aren't for us.

As for this new Solo movie, I'll just skip it and go watch Infinity Wars. At least it'll be less insulting.

Personally, I do agree with you.  The last installment of Star Wartz was horrible.  While I didn't mind too terribly of the party wipe movie they did between the rebash installments, the two in-between were ... meh.  It was almost like they were purposely tearing down the franchise so they could rebuilt it in whatever way they wish.  Now, I have to say that Solo caught my attention and made me think that they might have started to do something better, but I am like you ... I'm doubtful.

We do that to  send a message ,   that we didnt liked the way they are doing the movies .
In fact , is more like a warning .

I thought that might be where you were going with this ... and I agree with the thought, but that doesn't just stop with the Star Wartz movies.  We need to let those in power, Hollywood, the Media, and those in Government, know when we believe they aren't keeping their word when it comes to producing or just doing their jobs period wrong.

I do not expect to watch the same thing over and over (main reason why I was bored during episode VII but wherever they needed to reintroduce the franchise to the younger generations ). During episode VIII I was looking for a good and entertaining story however what we got was a plot hole the size of states and site story that had not outcome. If that is the quality of writing they are bringing to the table then why waste money just go watch something at the Syfy channel.

You're not wrong, there are parts of the fanbase who hate the new movies because they're different. Still there are people who don't like it for different and legit reasons. And there's ones who hate for reasons that are cringeworthy.

Keiichi72 In reply to Chobittsu-Studios [2018-05-14 09:48:24 +0000 UTC]

People never complained about it being different; at least not 14-bis or Alquira here.
They complain about the new stuff being *bad*, which it is.

My only confusion is how they ever expected it to get better after the prequels /shrug

Either way; if no one criticizes them for a job horribly done; then how are the films supposed to improve?

I didn't particular care for the Force Awakens. And The Last Jedi did have a few truly cringe worthy scenes although on the whole I liked it better than the JJ Abrams train wreck.

One the other hand while it did have flaws, I was thoroughly entertained by Rogue One. So I'm more than willing to give Ron Howard's salvage job on Solo a view first before casting judgement. He has a very successful track record as a director, knows how to both handle fantasy as well as mix in humor. And unlike his predecessors  - who apparently though they were directing a comedy - reportedly was more professional on set and more familiar with who these characters are and will become.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

BoneSatellite In reply to jkrolak [2018-05-15 01:36:37 +0000 UTC]

I don't understand how one could be entertained by the most boring Star Wars movie ever made, but to each their own. If you ask anyone what they liked about Rogue One, I'd wager about 90% would say Vader's scene. That's the one thing that truly stands out, and it only lasts a minute or two. That movie really should have been about Vader trying to find and stop the rebels. Both groups should've had about equal screen time, with Vader's spend tearing down walls and slaughtering Rebels.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

jkrolak In reply to BoneSatellite [2018-05-15 02:19:42 +0000 UTC]

That ending with Vader was the best sequence in the movie. I would go out on a limb and say one of the best in the series.

Given that almost no time elapses between the end of Rogue One and Star Wars: New Hope, it would be hard to involve Vader more. The incidents that lead to the Rebel Victory wouldn't have happened if Vader had been allowed to handle security. It required flawed decisions and people that would have been out of character for Darth Vader at the peak of his power.

Now if they wanted to do a movie or two about Vader hunting down the last fragments of the Jedi ala The Godfather....

But getting back on track, I'm still willing to give Solo the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise. One thing that has been standing out is that the screen writers need to step up their game. Going back to it's roots, Star Wars can be considered a serial adventure. Each act end on a cliffhanger that is resolved in the next. But the biggest problem I've seen in the new ones is that too many "fans" are disappointed that their personal "expectations" or imagined outcomes were wrong.
