Description
Alright, so I've been seeing many things- mainly on Tumblr, that my friend shows me- of people using the term "womyn" instead of "woman/women". It's super confusing. Most of them, who are part of the feminist movement (the radical side) are trying to change the word because it has man in it, and apparently it means "of men" to them. The first I heard of this was in grade 7, when we all had to make advertisements and products, and a couple of my female peers pretended to make hipster clothes. They referred to women as womyn because "women means of men and that's oppressive because we're strong individuals." The thing is, who the fuck cares? Just because it has the word man/men in it, that doesn't mean it means something. Just keep the English language as it is, please.Related content

Its existed sadly for a long time.Β
Radical feminists and sometimes political lesbians often use it since women has the word "men" in it so they got offended and added womyn since they are tarted.Β
Sometimes its used for transphobic purposes often used with another equally tarded word; Wombyn.Β

Wtf? They claim to be "strong and independent individuals" but got pissed simply because "woman" has "man" in it? I thought "man" can also just be a gender neutral term for a person.. What's next, are we gonna get angry about how so many last names end in "man" or "son"?

What next, are they gonna boycott the latest Super Smash Bros. game for having βBros.β in the title? They gonna call it βSuper Smash Sibs.β or something stupid like that?!

woman means human, not man, man also means human, so, in conclusion, those who say womyn arent human, in fact, my computer puts that red underline beneath that word, so yeah, womyn is a retarded word, even my computer agrees

Surprisingly, I've heard the term "womyn" before Tumblr even existed. I first heard it when I was 13 (Tumblr was founded when I was 15), and even then I thought it was really silly. According to Wikipedia, the term's been used since the 70s.
English already has very little grammatical gender compared to most European languages. Respelling woman as "womyn" is unnecessary.
